3DSXL won't read game

(apologies if this should go in "Other Platforms" but it seems like the 3DS is talked about much more here than there)

So I bought NanoStray for the DS and when I first popped it in my 3DSXL it didn't read. No big deal, popped it out and back in. Read just fine. That was one time. Ever since it won't read the game. It even feels slightly different when inserting it than other games. Just barely. Like the cart is a little more hollow/thinner than my other games or something.

The only fix I really saw was slipping a thin piece of cardboard in with the game. I don't know if I can't find the exact right sized cardboard or what but that hasn't worked for me. Anyone else had this problem?

Can you take a photo of the cartridge, front & back? It's unlikely but it could be a fake.

Fake DS games tend to only be for high profile/high value titles and I wouldn't class Nanostray in that category.

Have you tried it in a regular DS?

This happens with my R4 in my 3dsXL.

Not all the time, but it does happen.

My regular dsiXL doesn't like my R4 at all.

Could the cart be damaged somehow? Or maybe its a pirate like he said?

I would have to look. I bought it used but it came with the box and manual. Now I definitely had a hell of a time prying it out of the box and it did stress the outer shell, but could it really be damaged that badly?
