Acre, pyre?
Less egregious as flipping the e and r create words that don't look like they're pronounced the way they are. Acer looks like ace-er and pyer looks like puh-yer.
So sabre and lustre gets your goat.

:x : Today a student, one who is very bright and who I just wrote a letter for grad school for, saw a poster in my office and asked me "What's pearl jam?"

That is one deep question.

I expected from you:

"You're too old to have rock and roll posters hanging in your office."

Hmm. How's 'bout:

Every professor has to have that one "Hey, I'm still cool!" poster. Will that work?

Bonus: I don't say "rock and roll". (I'm still ashamed that I said "That's how I roll" and it was recorded)

Super bonus if said poster was the "free" poster that came with Ten.

Smile: Advent calendars rule. My gift today was a big ol' lipstick full kiss from my wife, planted right on my right cheek (cheek on my face, mind you). I'll be sporting this doozy of a kiss all day long.

When I was in school this past year, I worked in the mail room as well. On delivery I had to go to this professor's office and noticed an Apple II on his bookshelf. I complimented him on his fine computational find and then realized the professor was 5 years my younger and bought it at a thrift store for its looks. Didn't really know what it was besides it being, "a Mac"
