RE4 isn't 'survival horror,.' but I would wager it's still a horror game. Stuff like the scene where you're desperately defending that cabin as endless numbers of those... zombie? things swarm it, surround it,s tart trying to break in, slowly forcing you back. It's certainly pretty intense and scary.

Hey guys you can get the Asia versions of the PS3 ReMake and RE4 RECV if you want a physical disc with English language. Although I do not have a PS3.

WAIT. The asian version of RE4 HD has english subs?

So want to beat it so I can play the original Contra on a handheld, but yikes. So difficult.

That is why we will wait for him to play REmake before I start suggesting survival horror games.

So, RE4 is too much of an action game to be a true "survival horror" game?

After I finish RE4, I'll go on to play REmake and Zombi U. Simply because I own them already. After that, I'm open to whatever suggestions you throw at me. Like other RE games and Dead Space. Don't put too much on my plate though. I mean, just look at my sad list in the Games Beaten thread. It's pathetic!

Good luck with Zombi U. It wasn't bad but after dying a few times I just couldn't get into it, because you play a nameless character every time.

If it's any consolation, the resolution on the two unlockable Contras is not quite right; it's zoomed in a bit and you can't see the full screen.

You guys are talking about re4. They have it on the 360 for like 6.00 for the black Friday event.
Also a friend of mine is interested in the ps2 due to the neo Geo lineup. Now he wants to get all the compilations.
For me I don't know if its worth getting all those. I can only play those arcade games for so long before I get bored. I also told him to spend like 200 which I suggest for that he can get a ps3 or a 360

The first few Resident Evil games before RE4 were pretty intense survival horror for me. But RE4 came along and turned the franchise into more action oriented game play. Beyond that it was all garbage. They should ditch the whole cast of characters and literally start fresh.

Anyway that's my $0.02 for what it's worth.

How?
First game is still 95% about dismembering monsters with giant brutal weapons while you're in tank armor.
First game had the most boss battles and large set pieces. I was surprised when I replayed 1-2 together, 1 has some kind of giant boss battle in nearly every chapter.
Ammo was never a problem even on Impossible.

I'll never understand this logic. The only major difference with Dead Space 1 to me is that it had a map and more back tracking with its Metroid-esque / System Shock 2 design.

I didn't want to get too into survival horror debate since Ziggy is new to some of these games. I'd say Alien Isolation is probably the only thing I've played in -years- that would really count for me.

RE4, Dead Space, The Evil Within, The Last of Us, FEAR, Doom 3, Bioshock, etc all this stuff is a different breed to me.
