Oh, I completely forgot the Sonic 4 games BTW. I honestly thought they were fairly good. Not really great considering the attempt to recreate the feel of the Genesis games, but still pretty damn good.

Also, I agree with this:
ZeroAX wrote: Sonic Generations was probably the best one, but it also failed to make me want to it play again since the platforming was kind of limited, and it was more about running and avoiding obstacles instead of calculating jumps.

Sonic Lost Worlds had the most potential, but it definitely needed another 6 months of development spent on level design.

Sonic Colors - Sonic Generations - Sonic Lost World

These three stand as "good" Sonic games to me, everything else is utter crap other than Sonic 4 ep1 and ep2 which falls somewhere in between. Obviously just my opinion.

The new Sonic on Wii U has returned the series to Sonic 06 quality.

I haven't played it, but I like to pretend that one isn't really a "true" Sonic game. Just a spin off, cash-in game based on a TV series. If I think like that, it gives me more hope that the next Sonic game will return to at least the same quality of Colors - Generations - Lost World.

Next Sonic will be multi platform again....let's wait and see.

I didn't mind Sonic 4 at all. Episode 2 was way better than 1 because of the improved physics, but I enjoyed both to a degree. But even though I enjoyed them, it's just concrete proof that Sega can't make a good Sonic game anymore. They still were no where close to the Sonic games on the Genesis / Mega Drive.

I don't know about you guys but I think Super Mario 3D World is the absolute perfect blueprint for what would make a great modern Sonic game, fixed camera angles and a blend of sidescrolling parts with isometric parts. Seems like it'd be perfect to me. Not quite like Sonic 3D Blast though, even if I'm a fan. More like 3D World... not sure how you'd explain it though.

I could see it working. 3D World felt like a really pure translation of 2D gameplay into a 3D space.

That's actually a very good idea. I could definitely see that working.

I wish we could get a sequel to Lost World though. I honestly think that had the potential to be the best 3D Sonic. They just need to remove the whisps, improve the 2D level design and ensure they maintain a higher level of quality throughout the levels.
