3 didn't click with me the first time either, but when I finally got around to giving it another shot (especially with the new camera in the Subsistence and HD versions) I fell in love with it. Now I'm in the camp that considers it the best in the series.Ack wrote:No worries. Did you give REmake a shot, or just go straight to RE4?
For some reason, I could never get into Metal Gear Solid 3. I liked the first MGS, and I managed to get through the second despite its flaws, but MGS3 never clicked. I have been meaning to give it another shot some day, but I have pretty much sat on it for a decade now thinking that. Oh well.

I went straight for RE4, I'm 3 or 4 hours into it now. I also picked up REmake for the Wii and played it for a few minutes, it seems like it could be fun too.Ack wrote:No worries. Did you give REmake a shot, or just go straight to RE4?
Also funny... I was thinking I'd be playing RE4 with the Classic Controller, but I'm actually really liking the remote+nunchuck. I grew to really dislike using motion controls, but they just work so perfectly in RE4. There's limited wagging (only when breaking free of an enemy or running from a bolder) and the aiming is just perfect. If I got RE4 on GCN or PS2, I couldn't imagine having very much fun with it. I played it with the Classic Controller for a few minutes and had an awful time aiming. Then I tried the remote and nunchuck and haven't looked back.
Yeah, Ack, did you play the Subsistence version? I couldn't imagine playing the original version with the old camera from previous MGS games.AppleQueso wrote:3 didn't click with me the first time either, but when I finally got around to giving it another shot (especially with the new camera in the Subsistence and HD versions) I fell in love with it. Resident Evil 4 for the Wii is amazing. I am a diehard old style RE fan, but the motion controls for RE 4 blew me away and changed the game. When I first heard ReMake and Zero were getting Wii treatments I imagined I could aim like in RE 4, if only that was true. I even almost imported before I figured out they were just lazy ports.Ziggy587 wrote: Also funny... It wasn't untill I got the Wii edition that I could not put it down and beat it in 3 days. This is the perfect example of how motion controls should work in a RE game. I always wondered how the PS Move worked on RE 5 and RE 6?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I had bought Magical Drop V for less than an Euro on Steam and...it has already dissapointed me.
The gameplay itself is good, the speed of the clown is higher than in MDIII and the game feels less limited if somewhat less tight. But it's incredibly thin in content, there is a total of like 12 characters! And I don't even mean playable characters, but total ones. Half of the Tarot characters, bosses or not are gone which means you are fighting against far less than half of the patterns of the previous games.
This sucks because the first two Magical Drop games are very rough and the third, which is the best one, has a stupid boss that nobody has ever managed to beat in 20 years because he basically teleports. There's no really good MD game and it doesn't seem like MDV is going to take that place.
Still, if someone wants to play some online games, let's try it out! It seems more fun that way

Just bought masters of monsters and arcus odyssey for 28.00 off of eBay. I know I got a hell of a deal, but anyone ever play these games before?

Oh right, there's recently been an HD port of REmake hasn't there? I've been meaning to check that out.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah, I read that on Wiki. IIRC, it's digital only on PSN and Xbox Live.AppleQueso wrote:Oh right, there's recently been an HD port of REmake hasn't there? I've been meaning to check that out.

RE4 is one of my all time favorite games and one that I've replayed countless times. I will gladly quadruple dip for the Wii version at some point since I've always heard good things. I own just about every other version out there sans PC/portables(?).
If you really enjoy that formula, the Dead Space games were the best successor this last gen in my eyes. RE5 is fun too, but not quite as good as RE4 to me.
