Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I can't wait to quit my current job. The work itself is fine. The pay for what it is, is fine. My coworkers are awful and my supervisors encourage what can only be called completely unprofessional behavior. Not sure what you'd expect out of a casino though. They're as sleazy and smoke filled in the back as they are in the front. One sensible person joined the team a few weeks ago though and I've taken a liking to her, since she's the only other one that seems to recognize just how ridiculous the place is.
Only four more weeks of working there though. Just in time to get my bonus and get out. Then I'm spending a few weeks of vacation before I head off back to the city and college.
While this is a good thing it's leaving me incredibly stressed and filled with self doubt. I have a pretty substantial chunk of change saved up now so I don't have to worry too much about finding work right away. I could probably get by for 4 or 5 months. But it still makes my stomach churn thinking about it. I don't want to fail out on my own again. It doesn't help that I can't and haven't really been able to see my friends and I have no romantic partners... or even a cat; so my only sources of comfort right now are video games and the occasional work out when what I really need are more supportive people in my life since I lack the confidence to feel comfortable about all this. I'm not good with change. I'm blessed with a rather supportive family, however. I'm sure it'll all go fine but I'm still losing sleep over it.

Damn! These last few months of chaos have finally paid off. Farmers Insurance didn't turn out to be too much fun after the month of training. An insane amount of work and variables for much lower pay than what I was at previously. They talked about "regular turnover" at one point and some girl in my department just disappeared one day. Another one in the training group I was with got me hooked up with this new job so she's out too. Farmers itself didn't seem that bad, lots of nice perks (company wise and if I were permanent), big company and all, but yeah... the claims department didn't seem all that great. lol
Phew, crazy year. Ready for a breather. With risk comes reward... but I think I'll be done with the risk taking again for awhile haha.
But yeah, for any of you other guys on the fence with your job or whatnot... you gotta just lean forward a bit and go with the flow or else it'll never happen. I was incredibly uncomfortable and financially unstable these last few months, but I don't regret anything. My sanity was definitely worth it heh. And here I am now...
@RyaN: Do you not have to work while going out to college? 4-5 months of doing nothing might sound great, but I dunno. I'd still consider looking for any kind of job just to keep busy and be around others. Least that's how I've felt this year.

I do have to work. I can't afford not to. I just have a nice buffer of about 5 months of expenses to find one. Where I'm going to school is 2 and a half hours away from my current job though. They don't pay me enough to consider holding it.Xeogred wrote:

I just wouldn't wait and would look before that time hits. I don't think I could go 5 months without working either just because I'd get really bored, but that's me.

Oh yeah. I wont be waiting a single minute. But it's nice to know that if I don't find a job right away I'm not going to be completely broke ya know?Xeogred wrote:I just wouldn't wait and would look before that time hits.
