No thats the thing i put in Golden Axe and it sounds amazing. And no i have the heavy duty one (Looks like a small brick with the sega logo on it lol) Maybe I'll try it again.Ziggy587 wrote:Do you have any other games, or just Primal Rage? Do other games sound bad?
What power adapter are you using? It's known that cheap off-brand power adapters can really mess up the audio on the model 1. I experienced this once.

Just check YT for some PR footage. Even if it's recorded emulator footage, it should give you an idea if the game just sounds like crap. Or heck, if it really is that bad, surely reviews would bring it up.

Re: Sega Genesis Model 1 in stereo?
If your model 1 says "High Definition Graphics" on it, and you have a first party Sega power adapter, and other games sound fine, then you're all good. If just Primal Rage sounds terrible, then it must be just that game.TechXRenAgadeX wrote:No thats the thing i put in Golden Axe and it sounds amazing. But, do what Hobie said.

From http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/primal ... alrage.htm
"The Genesis version is one of the worst non-portable ports (although, not THE worst) the game got. Not only are the sprites tiny, with an uncountable number of missing frames, but the lack of color pallete makes the backgrounds a blurry mess. It also suffers from the big drop in sound quality most Genesis ports were known for. That wouldn't be much of a problem if the gameplay stayed intact, but even that didn't get ported properly. The code is based off of one of the earlier, less polished arcade versions, and pretty much any combo that could be done in the arcade version just can't be done at all here."
Well i messed up XD sorry for wasting your guys time. I coulda sworn i heart the Genesis port was the best one. yet theres no smilies for dropping the ball lol Good call btw Hobie

Re: Sega Genesis Model 1 in stereo?
I know this might be an obvious suggestion, but I personally use a set of desktop speakers to pump the sound out of the Model 1 Genesis. I just grabbed some cheap ones at Radioshack or something, little sub-woofer for those sweet, metallic base-y lows, and shit sounds amazing.
You might even already have some speakers laying around that will work. Almost any desktop speakers will be better than the built-in ones on a crt.
Just another option! And, be sure to drop in on our "What Genesis game are you playing?" thread, keep us updated on what you are playing and such.

No big deal. Not like this is one of those questions that's asked every other week that seasoned gamers expect everyone to know already. Mystery solved, so that's what's important.
