I agree. When I played Silver Star on PS1, I found everything charming except the quaint battle system. Doesn't help that the game is piss easy.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

The problem I have is that so many PSX JRPGs have battle systems that are as simplistic as their SNES/Gen predecessors.

Now this isn't an issue in itself. The problem is that you can't simply slam the A (or X) button and end the battle in 10 seconds because of all the load times, animations, voices, etc. It gets incredibly tedious.

I just got the GBA version in the mail yesterday, I think this completes my Lunar the Silver Star collection. Am I missing any versions?

I guess I'm missing the Sega Saturn VCD video card version, but I don't have a VCD expansion card.

Nice work.

But yeah, I don't have that fancy-pants Saturn version either. Maybe I'll look into it once I have finishing collecting Ys Book I & II variants.

How many disc variants are there for Lunar? I remember hearing the SCD has 7 or 8, but never knew how many the ps1 had. And, are some variants harder to find than others, or is there just a standard common one, and the rest are of the same rarity?

anyone know how the video cut scenes from the Mpeg Sega Saturn version compare to the PS1 complete version? I'm jealous of you Bone, being able to fully understand Japanese must be nice. The Japanese Sega Saturn Lunar games are so ridiculously cheap, most under $5.

"fully understand Japanese" is giving me too much credit.

But yeah, being able to play non-translated games is nice. Only problem is that it's hard to find people to discuss them with.

I should start stockpiling Japanese RPGs while they are dirt cheap for that inevitable day when they invent a Google Glasses that translate text in real time haha!
