Super Smash Bros. Discussion
Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
I just discovered that if you're playing online as Fox, and your opponent is Falco, and you win, then Fox says, "Better luck next time, Falco!"

Am I the only one who just unlocked everyone and quit? I don't know, single player smash just isn't as fun as multiplayer with friends

We should totally play! I will be more than happy to play anyone at any skill level, because it isn't really about winning, it is about the thrill of the game! Except no Ganondorfs....cause seriously....fuck Ganondorf!ZeroAX wrote:Anayo wrote:I just discovered that if you're playing online as Fox, and your opponent is Falco, and you win, then Fox says, "Better luck next time, Falco!"

On another note, my wife and I played a lot of Smash Tour last night and we enjoyed it immensely. This is definitely a cool diversion for more casual players. More times than not, she would end up winning because of her smart stat collecting and collecting the players she knows she is good at. It was a lot of fun!

Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
I have no real history with the Smash series. A friend brought over Melee once and kicked my ass in it for 30 or so minutes. After that, I once played the N64 game for a few rounds against the computer. But that's it. So I decided that I finally wanna get into the Smash games, and I'd start with Wii U.
Is the Smash Wii U games not a good one for a Smash Noob to start with? I feel like it's just so crazy and I missed page 1. Also, my Amiibo kicks my ass almost every time. He's at level 50 now, and I beat him less than half the time. Maybe not even a quarter of the time. The game is actually starting to frustrate me because I like it but I feel like I suck at it. Or is the amiibo at level 50 actually too difficult for a novice player?
It also doesn't help that I can tell when the game changes its difficulty because I suck. Like unlocking characters. You don't get the character until you beat them in battle, and if you lose you'll fight them after the next match, and again until you win. The thing is, I've noticed that if I lose twice then they're really easy to beat the third time around. Which is like, "Yeah, you suck, so we'll just let you win so you can use the character." And that pisses me off because the game KNOWS that I suck at it and then condescends me.

I would say that Melee is the toughest to get into playing. My suggestion is play with someone here in the community one on one on-line who can give you tips and tell you what you are doing, "wrong," to help fix and improve your game. As for your amiibo, don't worry.... a level 50 amiibo is really really tough, much more tough than a level 10 AI.Ziggy587 wrote:I have no real history with the Smash series. My tips are, learn to block, dodge and counter an attack. If a character is giving you a really hard time, play as them and learn their moves and what they do. Every character has a clear telegraph in what they are doing.
If a person likes to dodge around you a lot, use your down smash to counter that. A character likes to use Counter-Special Moves, throw them. It is really important to identify what a person is trying to do and learn the ways to address those individually.

Yes, I think this is exactly what I have to do. I just feel like I was thrown in the deep end before learning how to tread water. My defense is almost nonexistent right now.BogusMeatFactory wrote:My tips are, learn to block, dodge and counter an attack.
Ah, good to know. I think I'll stop using the amiibo until I get better. Thanks.BogusMeatFactory wrote:As for your amiibo, don't worry.... a level 50 amiibo is really really tough, much more tough than a level 10 AI.

Kind of what happened to me. I still play a random online match now and then when I have ten minutes to kill though.ZeroAX wrote:Anayo wrote:I just discovered that if you're playing online as Fox, and your opponent is Falco, and you win, then Fox says, "Better luck next time, Falco!"

Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
My 16 year old cousin came for christmas, for the past two days we have been playing nothing but GTA V and Super Smash Bros Wii U. Playing with a real human next to you that you can shit talk and laugh with is something online can never replicate.

My amiibo's fighting skills have surpassed me. If it gets any better I'll deactivate it before it gets to HAL-level sentience.
