The Game Sack Video Thread
Re: Mech Games! --- Game Sack
I was disappointed to not see Armored Core or Metal Warriors, but the latter was featured in one of your earlier videos. Don't want to get all YouTube armchair commenter here

Sequels That Changed the Game - Game Sack
WATCH -->
Episode 119 - Sometimes sequels change quite a bit compared to the games they followed. Sometimes they can almost seem like a completely different game and not even belonging to the same series! What are some of the sequels that were different that you enjoyed the most... or that bothered you the most?

Re: Sequels That Changed the Game - Game Sack
Just got back from work a bit ago.
You made me stay up longer to see this all the way through.
In my sleepy state the only newish game that may fit this topic is the Parasite Eve series on the playstation.
Both One and Two are quite different.
Two has an all different RPG style than the first one.
I like the first one more though.

good episode, but the omission of Zelda > Zelda II is baffling.

Let's see, other possibles.
Neo Contra being completely isometric instead of side scrolling (ignoring the Appaloosa nonsense)
Metroid Fusion locking your out of areas
KC's Krazy Chase being totally about eating the enemy instead of dots
Dig Dug II
Actraiser II
Golden Axe Beast Rider, The Duel, Golden Axe Warrior, or Ax Battler
Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero
Panorama Cotton
Panzer Dragoon Saga
TMNT II/Arcade game
Zaxxon Motherbase 2000

First two there are pretty obvious spinoffs, and the last one was only made into a 'series' for the NES port, so I'm not sure they really count as 'sequels'Hobie-wan wrote:Let's see, other possibles.

Hey, I said possibles if they wanted to be sure to have enough to flesh out an episode.

Great episode, as always. These are the few I could come up with off the top of my head.
Guilty Gear 2 Overture (totally different style game from the rest)
Dynasty Warriors 1 (1v1 fighting game)
Pop'n Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventures (platformer)

The Sega CD - Game Sack
It's our longest episode yet clocking it at 40 minutes. Welcome to the next level!

The Sega CD wasn't just all about grainy FMV. It had some fine games and you might even be missing out on some potentially awesome ones! What do you think of the Sega CD?
