I played through it, so it's not terrible (if I actually finish something, I must have enjoyed it  ).
...but, I didn't like the battles as much. The characters are fixed in place and I've always thought that the characters' place actually ON the battlefield made the game more involving (and more unique among RPGs).
I think it had "limit-break"-like attacks though right? I guess that was a nice touch.

So I got slaughtered by a sewer boss :x.
See, I don't need dying batteries to lose my progress. I just don't save when I'm supposed to :( .
Lost an hour or so, but can get back there in half the time (since I'm done dinking around town).

If you are only going to play through Lunar once, you are probably doing yourself a disservice by playing it on the GBA (unless you are really into "classic" RPG gameplay and didn't like the deviations - which for me are improvements - that the other ports have). It isn't a bad game, but I think it lacks most of the things that make Lunar stand out.

If it was the only version of the game, it would be perhaps an above average, fairly standard RPG on the GBA. As it is, it is a below average port of Lunar, with (more or less) the same story but there are better ways to enjoy the same story with better gameplay.

As for the Sega CD original, IMO it has the best version of the story, but the gameplay and overall presentation on e.g. the PS version is better. But all this has been said in the other threads by me and others.

It was also kind of hard to find when it first came out.

Very cheap compared to the console versions.

11 hrs, level 27 at Myghts tower with Laike.

This version is moving nice and fast. It looks good but I am sure some animated cut scenes and voice work would have made a few story scenes better. I will certainly give this another play through with another version, but I am not regretting playing the gba port so far. Great little handheld machine!
Need Hexyz Force and Class of Heroes 2 for a complete PSP RPG Set.....let me know your price!!!!

I think it took me a few weeks after its release to find a copy at EB Games.

Well i just had one of those "wow" moments, went though all the trouble to get lunar for ps1 and just realized I already had the psp version(albeit technically loose since it's in a gamestop generic psp case). Sometimes I wonder why I never look at that shelf....(so I guess that means I'll have two versions to play through? ha ha)

I LOVE that!
I'll be going through something and I'll be like "holy crap, I forgot I had this this".
It's also a sign that my collection is too big (as if there is such a thing  ).

Otherwise, I'd just pick one and go with it. Leave the other version for another time (lest you be all Lunar'ed out).
