The vast majority of all games are self-booting and you can tell beause they have the extension
CDI. You use discjuggler to burn the images, I think racketboy has a guide on it. For the few which aren't cdi, you need utopian to boot it. All you do is burn the utopian program onto a cd, pop it into your dreamcast. An image will conjure on your screen, stating to pop in the game(bin).

The dreamcast is magical as it will play basically any region.. Oh and you can play bin and cue images but you need a boot disc.

What is a boot disc? And which images will play like a normal game that I should look out for?

ok basically all you need to do is look for images that are in .cdi format as these are almost always selfbooting. any dreamcast game could possibly come in cdi format so it doesnt really matter what region the original game is. in order to burn the games you will need winRAR to unzip/unrar your downloads and discjuggler to actually burn the games (these can both be found in trial form with a quick google search). therefor you really do not need a mod chip unless you plan on playing the actual version of a japanese game.

I don't think so. I have one and it plays them fine as best as I can remember.

And if your like me and still want to try your hands at modding the DC....google its hardcore and look overseas. But...its a risk...about 6 months ago i ordered a chip from the UK....tracking number, to this day, says its stuck at customs....i never did get that damn chip. But yeah, UG and demon are great places to look for DC games. Have fun.
