I'm debating if I should add it to my list or not, but I rolled the credits in Super Mario 3D World. But I've yet to beat every level in the game, I'm up to that boss rush level. I haven't played the game for a few months now.
DKC Tropical Freeze is another one that I'm ashamed to say I haven't beat yet. I made it up to the last boss and then stopped playing it. Come to think of it, I did the same thing with Sonic 1 (SMS).
I only started making a games beaten list half way through this year, so there might be a few games that I beat but forgot about. Still, it's a pretty pathetic list. It definitely got me to realize my gaming habits more. I'm looking forwarded to starting a fresh list in January for 2015 and see what I can accomplish next year. But hopefully I'll be able to add a few more to 2014.
My wife has the same habits as you. I created a Game Wall for my wife with a grid to put up these poker chips with game logos on to show games beaten. She randomly selects a poker chip and that is the game she has to play until she completes it. She constantly gets to the end of games and never finishes them, which is a problem since she really wants to play and complete every single Zelda game, which is a task getting even more difficult.

Disney Infinity 2.0: Guardians of the Galaxy Playset (PC) - So I have finally finished all the playsets for Disney Infinity 2.0 and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed them. The Guardians of the Galaxy Playset was much more platforming oriented than the other two playsets and also featured a lot of first person turret combat. I feel that this playset was the most visually striking of the three, but ranks middle of the pack as Spider-Man's Playset was a lot more fun and featured more diverse activities.
Disney Infinity 2.0: Escape from the Kyln (PC) - New to the Infinity 2.0 set are these game disks that offer a different type of game than the full fledged campaigns. With the starter kit, you received Escape from the Kyln and Assault on Asgard. I feel these are stand alone games that offer a lot of cool experiences unique to the series. Think of these like an Indie game vs a big-budget title.
Escape from the Kyln was a Diablo-style dungeon crawler where you and a little companion explore the various levels of the Kyln, gathering loot and working your way to freedom. Each companion has various stats that help you fight enemies and explore nooks and crannies to find better loot to further upgrade your companion. I found this to be a very fun and refreshing experience, since you unlock all the tools to create your own diablo-style game as you progress. It was really fun! I have to try Assault on Asgard, but I have a problem with tower defense games... I stink.
Dreamfall Chapters: Episode 1 (PC) - Dreamfall Chapters... what can I say about the game that I thought would never be made. This is the continuation of the Longest Journey franchise, funded by Kickstarter and is the start of a series of episodes that continues the tale of Zoe Castillo after the events of Dreamfall waaaaay back in the day.
Visually, the game is stunning, but lacks some crucial animation during dialog, leaving some characters feeling flat visually. What they did do right with these characters is give them a life of their own through their dialog. Everyone in this game has such unique personality traits that properly reflect their views of the world around them.
What you have here, though is very much an Adventure game. As you explore the world, you have tasks and puzzles that help push the story along, offering you choices that can change what will drastically change what happens in the game you play and in future games as well. To avoid spoilers, I must stress that, knowledge that the player has is not inherent to the character you control and choices are offered to you that can take the story in drastically different directions, simply to see where the story will take you.
Now, the game is pretty short, roughly 4-8 hours, but warrants a second play through to make some different choices. I am thoroughly excited to see what comes next and what will happen based on the choices I have already made.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) - Last, but certainly not least, I fired up Animal Crossing: New Leaf again after months of disregard. My wife encouraged me to play again as I was the mayor of our town and there was some much needed decisions to make for further town expansion! When I played, I noticed I paid off my house entirely and, although there is no real end to the game, I felt that was a great point to say, "I've beaten the game."
New Leaf really is the Animal Crossing to play and I feel that it is the only one that truly felt like a vast improvement from its predecessors. Being mayor allows for a huge leap in customization to the town itself. Also, they have improved things like the camera angles, multi-player games to play, home customization and on and on and on. The previous games feel incredibly stale in comparison.
