The problem is the same that the PS2 has... the laser diode wears out over time. Its demise is expedited by lower quality media which forces the laser to increase the current through the diode in an effort to read the disc. Better media (TY FTW) and slower burns help with this issue.

IMGBurn is fine. Use the verify against ISO feature after writing. It does a bit by bit comparison, the presence of MD5 hashes attests to that. It always comes up roses for me. VSO Inspector also says my IMGBurn'd discs are good to go. If you're getting bad burns check your media and write speed, or get a better disc burner.

Those of you greasing your rails, a tiny dab will do fine. Don't over grease the worm gear or you will get grease splatters up on your disc or even the lens.

the burn with IMGburn may verify ok but ' burn quality ' wise IMGburn produces more C1/C2 errors than Discjuggler for Dreamcast games.

check my scan below this is a DC game burnt with DJ , look at the C1/C2 errors if you then burn a DC game with IMGburn and ' scan ' it the C1/C2 errors shoot up C2 particularly are the nasty ones and the quality score on the right drops.

C2 errors are usually an indication of poor media quality, or the failure of a CD burner to produce a quality burn

What version of IMGburn are you using? Have you tried verifying the disc integrity with other scanning software besides just Nero?
