You better hope those that ask you about that game don't follow you here... but since I'm a Retron 5 owner you can't hide.

GET TO IT!
(but glad it's getting better!)

Tanooki, thanks for the photos. I'm in UK but have imported a grey unit from the US (some months ago) and it's been working perfectly for me. However I'll get a UK black one as well now as long as it's the revised model. (I asked Hyperkin on Facebook and they said they will be, so happy days). Then I can have one for upstairs and one for downstairs.
Nice.
Cheers all.

If this new revised model is significantly better than the launch one I may just have to pick one up. Once they become widely available, that is.

One day, I will do the same. For now, I will milk out my $76 launch model as long as I can.

Well I'm glad someone is getting a good feeling out of the images I took. It seems they stepped up their game, but mind you it's new and I've got little time on it so I really haven't had the opportunity to stress test the slots to see if it decides to up and automagically start hating NES games like Gargoyle's Quest 2 again. Given what I was told online from multiple sources and then verified with the unit I have, I think they perhaps did justify (even if it sucks) the price increase as it appears much more durable.

I was researching what the changes were in the new model. Outside of build quality as commented in this thread I can't find much else. Not sure if the internals got cleaned up as well? Heres a photo of the whole unit (model 2) I found elsewhere:

Looks like Retron 5s are in stock on Amazon now. Don't have to deal with price gougers. Don't know if they are original or the redesigns though. Guess it depends on the seller.

$150 too, from Amazon. With the new price they're more than likely the redesign. That means free Prime shipping too -- best time to get it!

Try my google drive, 5 far more useful images of it. :)

If this is at amazon now and at $150, just go for it. Odds are unless you have a distro station in your state for them you'll end up tax free, and with shipping over $35 (or prime) free too, you're beating the $20 price increase definitely. The build quality is fantastic on this one compared to the first. I'm still using it lately for SNES stuff (Arcana, Wolf 3D, Arkanoid) and the first time to the recent time I've put a cart in, smooth, snug, no death grip or other scary issues and can remove the game one handed like on a real Nintendo if you wish -- no acrobatics needed.

Did you test Genesis carts to see if the slot is fixed? Not sure if you posted on that yet.

Interesting that the grey model is a bit more expensive and sold by a 3rd party at Amazon. Does this mean the revision is only the newer black model?
