Karnov is in my top 25 NES games.Luke wrote:prfsnl_gmr wrote: I love that he was Data East's mascot and that he is the villain in Data East's best fighting games.
I love that somehow I've beaten Karnov a few times, that I still have no idea how the game works. It's bizarre but extremely fun.

like the first game, I end this one feeling like shit. Maybe more so. Both games are very different though. And in this one, I feel like I made so many bad decisions. So many hard decisions! But I played both strictly "no reloading saves." It is what it is. Bad decisions made in the heat of the moment remain, as that seems to be what the games are really about. The moment. I'm not even sure I want to talk about this game right now. Need some time to think.

it looks kind of good. I'm just less interested in fairy tales than zombies personally. I'll get to it I'm sure though.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
1. Ogre Battle - PS1
2. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - PC
3. The Banner Saga - PC
4. Papers, Please - PC
5. Tactics Ogre LUCT - PSP (on Vita)
6. The Walking Dead Season 1 & 400 Days - PC
7. The Wolf Among Us - PC
8. Dragon Age: Origins - PC
9. Dragon Age: Origins Awakening - PC
10. Path of Exile - PC
11. Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy - Curtain Call - 3DS
This is one of those types of games that you can continue to play even after 'beating' it. When you accumulate a certain amount of points from completing songs, you unlock the final boss song/fight. Once defeated, the credits will roll and there is an epilogue, so I consider it beaten, though I continue to play it.
Overall, a fun game and improvement over the first. This game packs a ton of songs, and it offers enjoyment and a lot of replayability. I play it to wind down before bed every night.
12. The Walking Dead Season 2 - PC
I had finished the first 4 episodes awhile ago, but finally got around to finishing this one today. I was really hooked on these Telltale games as I punched through both Walking Deads and The Wolf Among Us at a fevered pace. However, I think the first Walking Dead story and characters were better than the 2nd. I do prefer the refined gameplay and graphics of Season 2, but even considering that, these games are all about the characters and plot. Still engaging and enjoyable, but lacks the same punch.

weird that we finished this the same day... anyway, I agree w/ your assessment. I thought the characters and story was better in the first game, but the mechanics were better in the second. The first felt like more an emotional trip. The second had a lot more action. I felt scared more than upset in the second. There was obviously more of a people threat than zombie threat a lot of times. But at the end of the day, I loved both games, just for different reasons.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
Yeah the 2nd one is good, but many of the characters annoyed me at times. Several times I was happy a character died when I wasnt supposed to be. I really liked the Carver character and Madsen's voice acting for him though.
I also felt Clementine wasnt a good protagonist. So really, this group of adults is basically lead around by a young kid? And they turn to her for important decision making? Sometimes they would treat her like a kid and then thrn around and expect guidance. I think Telltale struggled with that aspect.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
holy shit that was Madsen? I didn't realize - but I thought he was one of the most compelling characters.
I really liked that
I liked Luke and Jane a lot as well.
But yeah the first game's characters and how they fit into the story was a lot more... just better. And I do agree that playing as Clem wasn't as interesting to me as I thought it would be. But again, I also really enjoyed this. So I'm mixed, but still lean towards "it's great." It's just not as great as the original.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
First 25
26. Alien Chaos 3D (3DS)
27. Return Fire (3DO/PS1)
28. Puppeteer (PS3)
29. Giana Sisters DS (DS)
30. Street of Rage 2 (GEN)
31. Halo 2 (XBOX)
32. OutRun (ARCADE/GBA)
33. Dig Dug (ARCADE/GBA)
34. Tron (ARCADE/GBA)
35. Spider Man (2600)
36. One-on-One Basketball (7800)
37. Jak & Daxter (PS2/PS3)
38. Front Line (ARCADE/PS2)
39. DuckTales Remastered (PS3)
40. Donkey Kong Country Returns (WII)
41. Barbie & The Three Musketeers (WII)
42. Ghostbusters: The Video Game (PS3)
43. Wendy: Every Witch Way (GBC)
44. Track & Field (ARCADE/DS)
45. Guitar Hero (PS2)
46. Devil May Cry (PS2/PS3)
I have made several attempts at Devil May Cry over the years, but I typically give up during the first encounter with Phantom. The game's mechanics "clicked" with me this time, however, and I ended up playing though the game on "normal" difficulty. It took me just over seven hours to get through the game, and having played through some of its distinguished imitators (i.e., God Of War, Ninja Gaiden, etc.) I found most of the game to be relatively easy.
Regardless, I can now say that Devil May Cry is immensely fun and worthy of its accolades. I enjoyed my time with it tremendously, and I am certain I will go back through it on "hard" difficulty at some point to see if I can: (1) locate more secret quests; (2) maximize Dante's abilities; and (3) master the game's mechanics. I have some minor complaints - the dodge mechanic is not that great and final boss introduces a previously unseen rail shooting mechanic - but I am very much looking forward to the other games in this series.
Finally, the HD version of this game on the Devil May Cry HD Collection is absolutely gorgeous, and I recommend that version to people experiencing the game for the first time.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
115 hours and 19 minutes later, and I've beaten Etrian Odyssey Untold's Story mode on Expert difficulty. This was the hardest RPG I've ever beat by a mile. I can't say I enjoyed it so much as I endured it. Very glad to have this one behind me.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
