These PS2 collections are essential for 2D fighting fans:

Art of Fighting Anthology
King of Fighters: The Orochi Saga
Midway Arcade Treasures 2
Street Fighter Alpha Anthology
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
World Heroes Anthology

Although they are not collections, I will also insist that you get:

Capcom vs. SNK 2
King of Fighters XI
Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Finally, if you are looking for value, you should be sure to get Tekken 5. In addition to being one of the best 3D fighters on the PS2, it also contains the arcade versions of Tekken, Tekken 2, and Tekken 3.

The SamSho anthology might be worth looking into? Not sure on the port quality, but I know I dig some SamSho.

There is also a Last Blade 1+2 port, but its Japan only, and again, not sure on the quality there, just know the Last Blade games kick ass.

If we're gonna talk about 3D fighters, I have to recommend:

It depends on the game, but for the most part they're not bad. Keep in mind that it has Samurai Shodown V but not Samurai Shodown V Special.

Destructoid reported that there will be no Far Cry 4: Blood Dragon 2.

There will be something apparently but Ubi said that a follow up will not come out.

My thought on that: lame!

Blood Dragon was just great game I enjoyed the hell out of it. Great music. Great effects. Good humor, not the best. But the spirit was great!

Heck, most compilations, especially around the 6th/7th gen, are almost always worth your time. Midway, SNK, Capcom, Taito especially.

Heck, what about the Intellivision Lives! collection? It doesn't have the fighting games that we're discussing, but it's another awesome collection if you're into that generation of games.

At this point, I should also recommend Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which actually does include two fighting games (i.e., Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters). Sadly - or happily depending on your opinion of the game - it does not include Mega Man Soccer.
