What was the last movie you've seen?

I completely understand.

Please also understand that for the past...wow.. almost several years of my life, at least fifty percent of the time I watch a new movie I'm takings notes, writing down what trailers precede the featured film, and when not a private screening; amount of attendance, the make up/demographics of the audience, if anyone left, when the film got a reaction from the audience, and so on. So a lot of time it is work for me to watch a movie, and in my experience, not talking about or casual conversation about a movie you watched ten minutes ago, but praising or criticizing it isn't fair to the film or the thousands of people involved with making the film.

tldr; I have almost lost the privilege I have of reviewing movies and scripts because I spoke on them immediately after I watched or read them. It's in my best interest to sit back, review my notes, and wait at least a day before opening my yap.

But yeah...When I watched MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS as a casual movie goer, the first thing I said after the end of the film was "That was fantastic".

Whenever I think back on a movie, I try to consider the good and the bad in all films. I try to list all the pros and cons. I also consider the demographics of the target market. Even if I personally dislike the move, I must consider that the movie wasn't made for me; it was made for a different audience. I try to balance in my mind the artistic quality of films with the business aspect of the movie industry. This is why my reviews are rarely purely positive or purely negative.

The "AUNT MAY MOVIE" isn't going to happen. We should all place bets.

Since Hulu+ added back some Jean-Pierre Melville movies recently, I finally watched The Red Circle (1970). It was awesome; it exceeeded my lofty expectations; and I highly recommend it. (I also plan on watching Jean-Pierre Melvilles' Army of Shadows and Two Men in Manhattan before the end of the month.)

I do enjoy a good heist film, and as a general rule, I think that I prefer classic French heist films (i.e., Bob le Flambeur, Rififi, etc.) to American ones (i.e., The Killing, The Usual Suspects, etc.). That said, I really need to see more films in this incredibly fun genre; so...

What are your favorite heist films? Also, are there any other countries, besides Britain, France, and the U.S.A., that have produced excellent films in this genre? (Cruel Gun Story is the only memorable Japanese heist film I have seen, and I am not aware of any great Chinese or Korean heist films.)

I saw Interstellar last night. I am so happy this movie got made.
The Spaghettification point is interesting because the movie did two things there. First, they showed it from his perspective. Second, they showed that he was actually caught by a tesseract created by the other beings or future humans. So, it's probably the only reason he survived, the gravity in the black hole was manipulated so he could survive and assist.
Needless to say, I loved it.

Bad acting, despite having Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Andrew Divoff AND Tony Todd.

Bad special effects.

Overly cliched.

STILL LIKE IT!!! Only 3/5 stars on NetFlix.

I tried to watch Sir Billi last night. Even as a huge Sean Connery fan, I could not finish it. It is as if you are watching someone play through a bad 3d FMV game on the SegaCD. While the graphics are better quality, the animation is just as stiff. It is a sad way for him to end his career. Story is obviously contrite, it is a kids movie, but the pacing was super slow. The blocking was off and the lipsync fell a couple times. I wanted to see it ever since it was announced and I really wish I had not watched it.

I don't know. Watching the trailer, it kind of reminded me of that great classic How to Ratatwang Your Panda.

The trailers were all great. So was the opening, which was done in Bond style. But the film fell over itself.
