Veterans Day
Veterans Day
Thank you to all those who served bravely and sacrificed greatly so I could enjoy living free. The sentiment often never gets lost in political debates due to genuflecting of both parties, but I am truly grateful for each and every one of you, living or passed on. *Salute*

Are you kidding? Genuflecting to veterans is one of the few universals across political parties.jp1 wrote:The sentiment often gets lost in political debates, but I am truly grateful for each and every one of you, living or passed on. *Salute*

Re: Veteran's Day
Not sure what you're getting at. I wasn't insinuating that anyone didn't have appreciation for veterans, just that today was a good day to express it, without any political debate. The "sentiment gets lost" does not equate to "people don't care" in this instance. I simply meant that in all the rhetoric it is rarely mentioned. However, could we please not have a debate about this in this thread? It wasn't a jab at anyone.dsheinem wrote:Are you kidding? Edit: I needed google as well, hat's off on the vocabulary.

Re: Veteran's Day
Not sure if that was a dig at my typo or not, but I'll quote wikipedia (always defer to wikipedia as a credible sourceAck wrote:I already wished my father a Happy Veteran's Day.
While the holiday is commonly printed as Veteran's Day or Veterans' Day in calendars and advertisements (spellings that are grammatically acceptable), the United States government has declared that the attributive (no apostrophe) rather than the possessive case is the official spelling.

Haha, no, I actually just meant I had wished my father this morning to have a good holiday.jp1 wrote:Not sure if that was a dig at my typo or not, but I'll quote wikipedia (always defer to wikipedia as a credible sourceAck wrote:I already wished my father a Happy Veteran's Day.) in my defense.

Re: Veteran's Day
I figured as much, but since I had made the typo, I thought maybe a little ribbing was in order. Quoting wiki as a reputable source was meant as a joke by the way.Ack wrote:Haha, no, I actually just meant I had wished my father this morning to have a good holiday.jp1 wrote:Not sure if that was a dig at my typo or not, but I'll quote wikipedia (always defer to wikipedia as a credible sourceAck wrote:I already wished my father a Happy Veteran's Day.) in my defense.

EDIT: Fixed OP for Dave. Better?

Why do you have to make every thread controversial?jp1 wrote: EDIT: Fixed OP for Dave. Better?
