I have a Sega Genesis Model 2, VA 1. It will turn on, but will not show picture or sound. The LED light comes on, and the screen flashes like it's trying to play. I've tried everything I've found suggested. I've re-soldered the joints on the bottom of the video port, re-soldered the joints on the bottom of the slot where the games go, cleaned the motherboard, cleaned the ports, cleaned the slot, pulled the pins in the slot out so it catches better, used at least 3 different wires (2 cable, 1 AV) and 2 TV's, and have cleaned my games and used multiple games.
I've come to the conclusion that the CXA1145M chip must be fried. So I've ordered another one and it's going to take about a month to get here. I'm going to have to solder out the old chip and solder in the new one.
So my question, is there anything else to try until the chip arrives? I'm pretty new to fixing things like this and soldering. Generally cleaning solves the problem, but it isn't working this time.
Anybody open to any other ideas before I attempt switching the chips?
Edit: I should probably add that I have another working Genesis, and that all the wires work fine on it. This makes me think it can't be a wire problem then. I've also wiggled them around in the broken Genesis and nothing shows up on the TV still.
