Yeah, it's not the best game out there, but I don't think it's totally terrible. Bone and I have both beaten it, though I don't think anyone else here has.

I also just got in a boatload of SNES games, thanks to Beatnix's purge:

Battle Clash
Bill Walsh College Football
Championship Pool
Inindo
Mario is Missing!
Power Rangers Zeo: Battle Racers
Rocky Rodent
Saturday Night Slam Masters
Super Tennis
Vegas Stakes
Wolfchild
WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game
X-Kaliber 2097

It's not terrible, it's just very annoying, and when it's not annoying it's bland as hell. At least the presentation is done well enough.

Super Tennis and Saturday Night Slam Masters are two really good ones IMO. And I still get a kick out of Bill Walsh College Football being unable to use actual college names, settling instead for "Columbus" instead of Ohio State and "South Bend" instead of Notre Dame

Lagoon is alright.

It most definitely has that Hydlide / Ys Book I vibe to it... Probably because it was also a computer game originally.

Combat is a little stiff, but you have to admit that the OST totally slays.

Stick with it. It's like 6 hours long.

Hey, Alabama is still Alabama, so Roll Tide(I suck at football games and rarely play them, so it will be a bit). And I sat and played Super Tennis for a good half hour. It is harder than Pocket Tennis Color, but I plan to stick with it. PTC was such a blast, and Super Tennis reminds me of it a lot.

Agreed the soundtrack is great, Zoom Inc also did the music for Phalanx which I also really like

What'd they do for Mississippi State? I'm sure that was in the days we sucked. I'm almost afraid to talk about them this year, being number one in the country is a weird, weird thing.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if they just left us out entirely... I know they did in College Slam, and that was the year we made the Final Four.

It's been a long time since I played Super Tennis, but I remember it being a challenge when I first started. But after a couple tournaments I got really good and was dominating every match rarely giving up a game. Even then it was still fun. Super Tennis really did a great job getting the sounds of a tennis match right too, it's just satisfying to play

I don't think they were in the game, they didn't pick conferences by group, they just sort of hand picked teams from wherever. Even Hawaii was in the game (IIRC) for some dumb reason.

I think you're right. I looked at the FAQ, and I don't see an analog for 'em. Oh well.

Yeah, the sound effects are awesomely realistic. I've been in awe of those, even as I repeatedly screw up and Double Fault serves. The nice thing is, even doing terrible, I make short bursts of progress as I get better at the game. It feels good to be improving, even if it is only slightly.
