I am the opposite. I have difficulty sleeping without white noise from a fan. I need that air flow and the noise.

I love stuff like fan noise, rain, etc when I sleep.
Dead silence is unsettling.

Warm milk, yoga, and push-ups will get me sleep. Might not keep me asleep though.
My wife always wants sexy time, waking me up at all hours. Kidding.
But my wife used to grind her teeth in her sleep so she wears a fitted mouth guard. And if she isn't breathing through her nose, that mouth guard gives her loud "Darth Vader" sounding breath. Really difficult to stay asleep with "Hooo-Pahhhh" in your ear.
But when this takes place it helps me to focus on my own breathing to get back to sleepy time.

Man now I keep imagining my boyfriend sleeping with a Dark Vader mask on lol.
I can usually sleep with a normal fan (w/ my earplugs I can't really hear mine anyway), but this particular fan has more of a "Whir-whir-whir-whir" noise instead of a softer "pffffffff" noise (if that makes any sense lol). Doesn't help that this fan sometimes does a really loud, high pitch screech.
Yeah I think this is partially why I have trouble sleeping with nearly any noise... At home we have floor heat and a fire place, so at night it's very quiet.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Funny you say that.
I grew up in a house without a furnace and became accustomed to heat systems that were more or less silent.

Just buy your room mate a new fan. A box fan costs $10-$15. You should "accidentally" knock the noisy fan out the window and buy a replacement.

Haha. If I could "accidentally" knock it out the window, I would of turned it off alreadysamsonlonghair wrote:Just buy your room mate a new fan. A box fan costs $10-$15. You should "accidentally" knock the noisy fan out the window and buy a replacement.
