Is it really necessary for every time someone needs to reformat their machine for some reason that someone else needs to come in with "install Linux"?
Yes.

You see, there is actually federal legislation involved, in which any time someone mentions installing an OS, Linux fans immediately shout "Linux" over all others. This is because of a legal case involving Linux kernel creator Linus Torvalds, in which he discovered that Linux users literally spent all of their waking time masturbating furiously to the sound of their OS booting.

Lawsuits were launched by distraught family members and university legal departments over the excessively high number of sexual exposures and crimes occurring as a result of this continuous masturbation by Linux fans, resulting in the landmark Supreme Court case Penn State v. Torvalds in 1998, where the Supreme Court decided 5-4 to require some method to ensure Linux fans halt their extreme masturbation for some period of time. It was determined the best way to do this was to require Linux users to berate other computer OSes and recommend Linux distros with zealous fervor whenever possible, to provide them a break from their chronic self-pleasure.

Seriously, guys. Linux-based masturbation can lead to some serious long term side effects, such as difficulty urinating, reduced sexual potency, and behaving like a socially inept nerd any time the word "windows" or "apple" is mentioned. It has caused a lot of damage to the window washing industry, and it is speculated that our agricultural system will take decades to recover.
I hereby nominate Ack for post of the year.

Roomates suck, especially if a no jerking it to a preferred OS while the apartment is occupied rule needs to be agreed upon.

Linux got me to San Antonio, though that was just Ubuntu and I think Repo's gonna need something way more hardcore to get to NYC.

Better install Slackware or something instead.

I've been in San Antonio for like a month now lol.

As for my job... well we'll see what happens tonight. Hopefully I still have one...

>:( Well I'm not getting sleep tonight. Roommate left with a super loud fan on (or at least it sounds like a fan) and it doesn't sound like it's going to quiet down anytime soon. Man I love roommates.

Funny you say that.

I grew up in a house without a furnace and became accustomed to heat systems that were more or less silent.

Now that I live in a house with one it's driving me nuts. The periodic and unpredictable way it flares into live, all the little cracks and pops in the pipes... Good lord. It wakes me up sometimes. My wife doesn't notice - she's used to the sounds and to her it's just all ambient background noise.
