Nintendo botched the marketing on the Wii-U so badly - even calling it the Wii-2 would have made more sense.ninjainspandex wrote:Moms at work ask me all the time if they can play Wii U games on their kids Wii. I think at this point we could even say there's this negative stigma surrounding the "Wii" name so coming up with something completely different would've been best. Oh well. =[Retrogamer0001 wrote:Nintendo botched the marketing on the Wii-U so badly - even calling it the Wii-2 would have made more sense.ninjainspandex wrote:Moms at work ask me all the time if they can play Wii U games on their kids Wii. Re: PlayStation 3 Box Design Undergoing Change....Again
I saw this new package design on some NBA game yesterday (already clearanced too!) It's not that bad, actually!
It'd be pretty difficult to confuse it with PS4, unless you didn't understand the difference between PS3 and PS4. The banner is in a different place, the case is still PS3 clear.
It was sitting next to PS4 games when I saw it, and it stuck out like crazy. It was glaringly different. Not as different as a black label, of course. But not entirely awful.

can't be worse than the japanese side cover... Its very plain. font is white with the title in kanji/katakana (japanese alphabet) in black. My US region games look soo goo, with their own art and logo. I gave up on making my ps3/xbox360 look good. so color won't change anything in my life, althought i kinda feel it won't be coming to Japan. We don't have the red labeled games here. Come to think about it, i dont think there is greatest hits release on ps3 at all.

Re: PlayStation 3 Box Design Undergoing Change....Again
now that a few months have passed since this thread has come out.
I see that not many other companies followed suit with the blue labels.
Did sony not enforce it enough? Or did the games come out before this policy change?
Will these quirky blue games become another subset to collect for?

Maybe the cover art was submitted for printing prior to the label change?flojocabron wrote:now that a few months have passed since this thread has come out.

It is odd that we're still seeing new releases with the older label.

This late in the game, they change it up? Eh. I guess there won't be enough games released now that it wouldn't be hard to just print covers for each one to keep everything the same.
But yeah, now we have the SpiderStation3 one, the plain black one and this blue one - not to mention all the Greatest Hits variation. Having PS3 games on a shelf is going to end up looking as bad as having a whole bunch of different Genesis cases on a shelf.

The Spider-man font days were dark times for Sony.

I have 30 some odd Vita games, they all have this blue box art design. I assumed it was just the Vita style. I didn't realize it was also being used for PS3 now. I see it's also being used for PS4 as well. I can only assume Sony is trying to unify all its platforms under the same banner as it were. Brand recognition at a glance? I have to admit I find the blue aesthetically pleasing.
