Video Game "Look what I found"

So I hit my local Flea Market today and boy did I come away with some great stuff.



So the NES, SNES, Superman 64 & Game Gears ones I got for a few bucks each at one booth. It was fine, some of the titles I really wanted but overall nothing too good. The other 2 N64 ones however I got these because of this.



Typically a PS2 isn't such a big deal. However, what got me happy was when I saw the back of it. It is a Japanese 18000 PS2. The problem is that the guy who runs the booth is a Grade A jerk. He is mean, nasty, has no clue what he is selling just what eBay prices are. However, I have caught him slipping before. Just to give you an idea on his prices. He sells used dirty PS2s for $70 with 1 controller and cables.

However, on that one he told me he couldn't get it to work with a game (he said it kept going red screen.) and sold it for $20 as "parts" with just the system. So I picked it out along with a few games which he had priced at $7 each that I wanted. Now here is the kicker which is why I'm glad I got the system away from him. As I was paying him, he threw at me another PS2 said. "Oh, get this one it works." I said no (and this wasn't the first time he said that too me), and that I want this one since I already have a PS2 and could use it as parts later on if it doesn't work. He threw the games at me with the money. And I almost got hit by them and he was like "THANK YOU." With a big attitude problem since he kept pushing me to buy his overpriced PS2 systems. I was just done with the flea market at that point (I typically hit him last anyway to check if he slips).

When I got home to check out the PS2 it seems it won't load Japanese PS1 games correctly as it states it is a CD. When I tired to clean the lens it kinda worked then just froze on the load up screen with the PS1 logo before reverting back to the CD problem. I don't have any Japanese PS2 games to check it but it does play Japanese DVDs. So I might have to get it fixed or something.

So on my way home, I stopped over at my local Retro Game store and I love this place. The people who works there and the guy who owns it are really nice. I got a few things from him.



I don't remember the prices for them but it was like $10 for each I think. It was the next one that just blew me away when I saw it.



Rockman Dash for the N64, sealed. I LOVE this game so much. This game was the main reason I got a PS1 back in the day. When I saw the commercial for it on the PS1 was when I made up my mind to get the system for that game. This has to be one of the top 5 games I love of all time. While it isn't the same game it hits on my heart strings so I just had to get it. I think it was around $40 for it. However it is sealed so I just got it since I love the game. I am going to have to find a hard display case for it now.

It was a great week for pickups!

I picked up the SNES version of Yoshi's Island for $5 off a local Facebook buy/sell group. It was pretty mangled when I got it but I brought it back to life with a good cleaning and some careful sharpie work on the label.

Rayman Legends was $19.99, brand new, at Shopper's Drug Mart. Yay!

The rest was obtained through a trade. I let go of my CIB copies of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue for Final Fantasy III (FINALLY got it!), Bill Elliiot's Nascar CIB, Killer Instinct Gold (box and manual only) and $45 cash.

I'm very happy to have Yoshi's Island and FFIII in my SNES collection. They've both on my hot list for quite some time.

I don't know if this was a good or bad flea market day. Only found 2 things worth picking up.

Atari XE with keyboard: $12 (No cables/controllers)
Doom 32X: $5

My dad has a bucket of Atari 800 game cartridges in the garage, as well as the floppy disc reader with some cool stuff which works with the XE.
Currently hunting online for that power cable. I hope it works!

In mexicali where I live, Thriftstores are kinda rare. There are buildings that sell used things,but its all for profit. There are no charities involved.

But what we do have is a traveling fleamarket. Every day of the week in different parts of the city, on a main road or a side road theres a fleamarket. Some are about a mile long. But there are a few popular ones that are even longer.

When it comes to videogames, its a mixed lot. Some dont know what they have and sell it cheap or reasonable.

Some of them are still carting around the same games for years now! I've seen lots of beat up, rusty contacts, faded labels of NES, SNES and Genesis games. They may have been worth something a few years back, but now they are sad useless things.

I find the same thing sometimes at my local Swap Meet. A few of the stalls have the same guy for YEARS selling sun faded video games. Imagine the weekly haul out to the tables really puts a toll on the labels. Other times I find rarities in pristine condition. A hit or miss at times of getting a really good game in decent shape, still worth the hunt.

That is sweet for the Japanese PS2. I suspect Japanese PS2 games that are DVDs will play since the Japanese movies play. Usually it is the CDs that first fail to read; try to avoid playing movies to get the maximum mileage out of your import PS2.

I think some of those games are defective, the labels are upsidedown. Just kidding, great finds and nice story!

Sweet! I think there was an exclusive game or two (ooh, Necromancer) that makes this console worth getting along with Lightgun that works with the 7800. The Atari 400/800 actually does have a better version of the ill fated 2600 ET game if you can get it to load with that drive. Maybe that same seller might come up with the power cable on the next trip? You could leave your phone number along with promise to pay in case to encourage the search of the garage storage.

Wow I was talking to my dad just a little while ago, and he was talking about some weird game called Necromancer where you shoot trees and stuff. Already ordered a power cord online since it was cheap, and found a bunch of games in the garage! There's a lot more, I just can't fit it all on my desk for the photo.

This still counts for the thread, since it was "found" right?

Some great finds people snagged over the past few days.

I picked up minty complete copies of Gauntlet Seven Sorrows for PS2 and The Lost Vikings for GEN, $5 each over the weekend.

no pictures, and this is the only place i'm posting it, but we just went and picked up a 6 player X-Men and a single player Time Crisis II for the arcade bar. i know you guys know how big the 6 player X-Men is, but you really don't have a feel for it until you're hauling it around on a dolly at midnight after driving 8 hours all day. whew.

I stopped by GS and picked up another copy of One Piece Pirate, what I noticed was that my original copy's disk is blue while the one I just got was colored in. Does anybody know the differences between the variants.
