Blu wrote:What would you say are the best games so far for the Wii-U? I'm really thinking about picking one up in the next year.
1. Lego City Undercover - Witty, funny dialog with the Lego charm, mixed with the snadbox style overly accredited to Grand Theft Auto. Great exclusive and seriously one of, if not the best Lego game.

2. Super Mario 3D World - A game that is spectacular solo, or with a group. I love the fact that Nintendo was able to make the Mario franchise seem like both a competitive and co-operative game all at once with this and New Super Mario Bros. U. Tons of content, replayability and inventive level design. What shines out the most? Captain Toad!!!!

3. New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U - They take New Super Mario Bros and crank it up to eleven. Same style and great level design. Super Luigi U really works it by making faster paced, precision platforming levels. Adding Nabbit, a character that can't get killed (unless you fall of a cliff) who can eat up people's powerups is a great random element to really mess with people.

4. Hyrule Warriors - My surprise game of the year. I was not prepared to enjoy the game and was ready for a repetitive time. I was greatly surprised to see none of that. The game is a blast to play and there are so many awesome moments that really make this a fan service dream. Tons of modes of play, unique rules and maps to customize and the weapon crafting stuff. Great times!

5. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD - Say what you want about the game, but I personally put this game up there in my top Zelda games. The added graphical boost makes it a beautiful sight to see. Also, the use of the gamepad motion controls to handle the grappling hook, camera and bow and arrow are crazy good and a blast to mess around with. Nothing also beats traveling to an island, seeing a washed up bottle on the shore and seeing a whacky selfie of Link look at Tingle's butt. Those are good times!

6. Wonderful 101 - Devil May Cry x 10000. This game is very very challenging, with tons of customizability, collectibility and precision combat, Wonderful 101 is a game you can get inexpensively and have it last a looooong time as you master this indepth combat system. I can not stress enough how cool this game is.

7. ZombiU - Some people love it, some people hate it, but I think that this game epitomizes everything awesome about what the Wii U can be. The use of the pad is ingenious, allowing you to do a sonar ping to find zombies in your area, using it to scan the area in first person view to find resources and gear and the great use of it to ampup the intensity as you manage your inventory. They also use the speakers on the pad to great affect as it is your exclusive source of information from, "The Prepper." Add to it a great multi-player mode that has the pad player setting up zombies and traps and the pro controller player running around trying to capture points and stay alive.

8. Pikmin 3 - Pikmin 3 creates a great RTS experience and mixes it with a gorgeous world filled with things to explore and do. I can not express enough just how great this game is and again, the pad can be used to take pictures amidst the chaos of this enormous land is all the more awesome.

9. Rayman Legends- This is the definitive version of the game as it is all about playing with people locally as a team. The pad player can play as Murphy and manipulate the world around the players to help them platform and evade traps. It is such a blast to play and some of the levels are the most memorable and entertaining. I mean, seriously, who doesn't love the musical levels!

10. Monster Hunter - Blu, I know you love some Phantasy Star On-line and Monster Hunter would be right up your alley man! Exploring the world, hunting monsters with friends! Need we say more!?

11. Mario Kart 8 - It is Mario Kart! If only they would release some battle arenas it would honestly be the best Mario Kart of all time. Amazing levels, gorgeous graphics and nothing beats watching the replays. Let's not forget DLC that is actually worth the price of admission!

12. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze - Challenging! Almost impossible in co-op. Donkey Kong Country epitomizes a hardcore platforming experience with brilliant level design, off the wall bosses and tons of secrets that are truly difficult to locate and unlock. Such a great game!

Games I'm looking forward to?

1. Smash Bros. - Need we say more?

2. Captain Toad - Adored the levels in Super Mario 3D Land and can't wait to see him in his own fully fledged game. We don't very many platforming puzzle games any more and it is a shame!

3. Xenoblade Chronicles X - This game looks absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed the combat system from the original Xenoblade Chronicles and I feel like this will be just an even more charming experience! Can't wait to see what they come up with!

4. Armikrog - From the makers of, The Neverhood and Skull Monkeys, the team is making unique features found only on the Wii U thanks to their stretch goal on Kickstarter. I can not wait to play it and I can not wait to see what they come up with!

5. Hex Heroes - This is a strange real time strategy hybrid where the person with the gamepad is the eye in the sky, setting up buildings and looking at the map at large while the wiimote players control certain unit classes on the field, revealing more of the map, gathering resources and fighting enemies. This game looks incredibly promising and has a game design that fits right in with the aesthetic of what the Wii represents!

6. Splatoon - A great multi-player experience mixed with a recently announced single player campaign that looks mind-bogglingly good. I can't wait to see how this game progresses!

7. Yoshi's Wooly World - I need to see more, but a great new Yoshi game? Looks great!

8. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - Say what you will of Kirby's Canvas Curse, this one looks really interesting and I am curious to see what they do with it. It is on my radar for sure!

It is looking great and it really looks like there is a lot to look forward to. Fingers crossed!

I can't believe I forgot Hyrule Warriors! Yes, I'm with you there. It's one of my favourite games of the year too and it is also surprising for me. Also, the DLC and season pass is well worth the price. And I say that as someone who pretty much never buys DLC or purchases season passes (other than games like The Walking Dead where you're just committing to buying the full game).

Also, I completely agree about ZombiU. Two years on it's still one of my favourite current gen games.

This is surprising, according to VGchartz, Bayonetta is the top seller this week.

That's cool. It's certainly deserving.

Look at that, Nintendo 3 of 4. To hear this thread you would think they are going out of business. +1 for some positive words, and thanks guys. First time I have not just skimmed this thread for awhile.

I really think the Wii U has a way higher percentage of quality over quantity right now. Even the games that do not appeal to me seem like they offer quality to those who would like them.

That's a good point. That's a good point. There's quite a few games out right now that I personally don't care about (at this point in time at least) but plenty of people seem to really like them.

I can agree with that too. Not much I want on there that's out now, but the quality is most definitely there if it's a specific franchise or style(genre) of game you enjoy as there are options. The WiiU is kind of in that N64 valley of not many releases but the percentage of them have a higher level of quality releases (quality over quantity argument N64 lover used against PS1 fans in the 90s.)

True. I love my N64 for the about 6 games I have it for, but otherwise it has little use, compared to what I would have out of a PS1.
