I do not know if Bayonetta does this to me but Borderlands makes me want to hurl everytime I play it. I tried, a lot and still gets to me.RCBH928 wrote:I played Borderlands 2 and Bayonetta on my ps3 and I kind see a slight blur or double images shown at once (like I can actually perceive the interlacing happening) . It kind of makes my head dizzy.
When I was playing Borderlands I thought maybe because its an FPS and I was sitting too close to a 46 inch TV. Now that it happened with Bayonetta I am confused.
I played L.A. Noir , The Last of Us, Bioshock 3, and some PSX games and never noticed this.
What is causing this? Is this because of the 30fps/60fps issue?
I turned on the Motion Plus option (the option that makes films look like soap operas). Supposedly it makes fast action look smooth. I will see how it goes.

Yeah, I agree with that, I'm simply awful at explaining myself.Ack wrote:Perhaps, though it's also worth noting that the Internet Archive makes it a point to try and backup as much as possible for the purpose of research. They're interested in trying to preserve these things, even if it is via a legal grey area.
The thing is, I think preservation and sharing these games with the general public is a worthy goal. I really wish we had something like the Criterion Collection or a legal way to play Beatmania and Batrider. The goal is a good goal.
But the goal doesn't justify ignoring the rights of creators, and I'm uneasy with how the praise the site gets seem to overlook the legal and moral implications of sharing games you don't have the rights to. And when it comes down to it I can acept the preservation angle for something like Quantum but I have a hard time excusing the inclusion of OutRun and Centipede which are still sold and available everywhere.
I also don't mean "Rom site" in a bad way, I just don't think that it's much different than other sites that let you play games on your browser or, well, just download the rom. I mean, I don't think downloading the full MAME 0.151 from them is much more justificable than downloading it through Bitorrent or any other site.
And you know, the underhanded, ugly stuff that is emulation I can accept if it's taken as the lesser evil, as something we do at a very small level because the alternatives are very poor. I just don't feel comfortable with the tacit acceptance of this.
Not sure if that makes sense but it's what I think.
It's caused by a narrow field of view. Borderlands, CoD and many other modern games have a very small field of view so they can cram more demanding graphics on aging hardware which is why so many people are suffering from this issue now.wclem wrote:I do not know if Bayonetta does this to me but Borderlands makes me want to hurl everytime I play it. No, I understand you. And you're right, a large portion of what they are offering is available through other, legal means. But for a lot of this stuff, I'm willing to accept that it's the best we'll probably ever get, even if there is some stuff they shouldn't be sharing mixed in with the rest.Erik_Twice wrote:Yeah, I agree with that, I'm simply awful at explaining myself.Ack wrote:Perhaps, though it's also worth noting that the Internet Archive makes it a point to try and backup as much as possible for the purpose of research. If you play on PC, some of these games have ways to adjust the field of view, especially for multiple monitor setups. Look up FOV adjustments and tweaks in the corresponding game. You may find ways to brute force this.Erik_Twice wrote:It's caused by a narrow field of view. The only times I've felt nausea in BL2 is when taking a jump off a big cliff and getting a little vertigo on the way down, though this has only happened a couple of times from all the cliffs I jump off of. The worst I have ever gotten it is actually from the game Redline from the late 1990s, because FOV would change when moving from cars to on foot.

Ideal FOV to prevent motion sickness can also be a matter of proximity to screen. The narrower FOV console games use is appropriate for at least some setups.Erik_Twice wrote: It's caused by a narrow field of view. I've mostly run into it on PC ports that don't adjust it, or give the option to. Borderlands took editing config files, where Borderlands 2 has the requisite controls built-in.
Bayonetta on PS3 is a terrible port and has major framerate issues, which may be a contributing factor for that one.

Has anyone bought the Colecovision Flashback? Not a bad PlugNPlay, someone at Atari Age posted a video of a possible short in the solder pad connection inside. Took mine apart, turns out the video/audio solder pad has excess wire. An easy fix just cut the excess off and separate the wires further apart underneath.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Just came to a realization that i prefer Western hack n slash games such as God of War, and Darksiders to Eastern games like Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden Black.
Did a Google search and found this old gamefaqs poll, im definitely in the minority.

So Borderlands is putting a large amount of information/objects in a small window?
it was on PSN for $8, that less than what I will pay in shipping :/isiolia wrote:

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It's kind of the opposite.RCBH928 wrote:So Borderlands is putting a large amount of information/objects in a small window?
A narrower FoV effectively zooms in on the game world. A wider FOV zooms out. So, like Erik_Twice said, it reduces what has to be shown on-screen, and in turn, how much the game has to render.
Here's an example that someone made:
That alone isn't entirely it though. Motion sickness is generally caused by a disparity in your senses. You see one thing, your inner ear perceives another, for instance.
Having the wrong FOV for the "window" into the game world, based on how far away you're sitting, can trigger that. In general, a narrower FOV accentuates movement more too - like if you were walking around looking through binoculars.
Even if it doesn't make you sick or give you a headache, narrow FOV can just look wrong (normal human vision having about a 180 degree FOV). Ideally, it'd be something you could adjust on any platform, in order to suit your viewing distance and such, but it's only common on PC titles, and even then, a lot of ports from consoles neglect to include it in the game menus.
You're far from the only one who bought the PS3 version.it was on PSN for $8, that less than what I will pay in shipping :/isiolia wrote:

Just saying, the game was built for the 360, and the outsourced PS3 port is known to have a lot of performance issues. The Wii U version, on the other hand, is slightly better than the 360 original.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So kind of mad with blizzard. The version i got of Diablo RoS only has two languages... spanish and portuguese... and no, the forums are full with topics of people asking for a language pack and so far blizzard is silent...
I have two options either get the US version from amazon or play it on spanish and deal with it... time to check amazon.
