In fact it wasn't the moderation of them that I was talking about, so much as Luke's bringing them up several times. As though he hasn't made any juvenile or offensive postings.

I find it ridiculous that there are more complaints about a phallic text character than the ongoing ignorant prejudice. That's not a reflection on the mods choice, rather on the board as a whole and what we choose to censor.
When the topic of welfare comes up we have spirited debate about it in appropriate threads. People get called out when they cross the line into unintentional bigotry. But you don't see random "the poors" references across the boards. The dicks thing was just randomly putting that shit all over the place, and it paints a poor picture of the forums. But spirited debate of an issue does not reflect poorly on the boards.
I'm not concerned with the "dicks thing" although I find it funny that this reflects poorly on the boards compared with...

This spirited debate, as you call it. There have been multiple instances of such comments, and I do see random references on the boards about it. Granted it is usually from the same people, and I realize it isn't laid out in a banner...hence, your point. My point is that since they have been gone, it has been brought up several times to illustrate poor taste, by those who make posts in poor taste themselves.

I would say someone is having a meltdown. I won't actually say it, but I will make a vague reference to meltdowns, say like a T 800 in lava.

Hey! Did you know the film DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN was directed by a woman named Susan? You do now.

Yes, jvalentine starts shit because he's jvalentine, and the mod team is taking care of it. We're not just going to blanket delete posts like that, since our style is that the only thing we hard remove is spambot posts (so they don't get their ad hits) and porn.

It's cool, I got it. I understand your position and truthfully, I'm not questioning your judgment. I'm not calling for anyone to get their posts deleted...just saying, my perspective on the situation is different. Nothing more.

We can go back to PM if you like Luke. I'm willing to work with you, if you intend to stop trolling me when we come to an agreement. Otherwise, how about we just give each other a nice personal space bubble. You haven't seen a meltdown guy, I'm not even pissed off yet, just annoyed. Remember that mutual respect thing we agreed to in PMs...

I don't recall calling you out since then, until you called me childish for being tired of jvalentine's bullshit. Sorry if you don't find any of it offensive, that doesn't mean the rest of us aren't entitled to an opinion.

What I don't respect is the sweeping generalizations and ignorant bigotry that is widely accepted on these boards. Some people abuse welfare? OK, some people do all kind of things. It doesn't justify lumping them all together and making prejudiced statements about them based on a biased point of view.

Say I make a thread and post something like "Republicans won. I guess the country is really going to shit now, since a bunch of selfish, heartless, assholes will have a greater pull on the decision making." Would this be justified? I mean some republicans are selfish, heartless, assholes. So, why not throw them all under the bus and get it over with? Why don't more people on the boards give a shit about this kind of open hatred?

Yeah, it turns out Tanner time doesn't play well. So, I'm going to go with being a big fucking asshole as to better relate to my target audience.
I didn't think you in particular, I'm seeing a few people here making blanket fairly retarded statements about the right which are just annoying to see. I vote mostly right, but guess what I'm not a bible thumping, abortion clinic terrorizing, tea party obstructing, part of the 1%, gun nut psychotic. :P And you're probably right about your target audience reading this thread which is why I've said back into the 1990s video games forums are not a place politics should be pushed or discussed. It never stays civil. All it takes is one drudge or dailykos nutbag to light the fire.

So then why do you vote right? Is it because you're right handed and thought you had to vote for your hand preference?

I guess it goes both ways. I don't see you doing it either...hopefully it didn't seem like I was inferring that. There should be mutual respect in these "debates" no doubt. We agree on that wholeheartedly.
