mjmjr25 - The Smorking Sections - 3,042,980 - Stage 5 (boss) - Rust Champion - SAT
Stage 5 in some ways feels like a farm - so many points and with mostly stationary items chaining is easy...but everything is so darn tight it's a real gamble to go for stuff at times too - really tough to plan my strategy. That boss is giving me fits - need to see him a few more times. I'm coasting through first 3 stages up until the boss - dying once on him usually and then stage 4 I have no comfort yet, but getting there. Stage 4 boss has huge milking potential but i'm not sure i'll have enough time in the next 3 days to get it down.

mj> That screenshot isn't actually the Stage 5 boss. You'll be pleased to hear that there's a bit of a boss rush in the 2nd half of Stage 5: a repeat of the Stage 1 boss, a repeat of the Stage 2 boss, a larger version of the ships from earlier in Stage 5, plus the actual Stage 5 boss, Black Heart (Mk 1).

I'm not playing anymore this week, every time I play this game it puts me in a right mood and it's causing tension in the household. Damn invisible bullets.

As far as I know, we are allowing red bullet mode to be on in the saturn version. I don't believe the ROM being accepted from Mame offers this option, though, so it would be unavailable to anyone playing in Mame.

if a pink bullet mode exists in MAME, I don't know about it. But the "invisible" bullets are def getting to me as well.ninjainspandex wrote:Wait are we not allowed to be playing this with the pink bullet mode???Nyukki wrote:I'm not playing anymore this week, every time I play this game it puts me in a right mood and it's causing tension in the household. I think, and may be wrong, that they are only available in the hacked "Zakk" rom for Battle Garegga, but that is not the rom we are playing. So, no, its unavailable to those of us playing Mame.
And the Saturn port lacks the natural input lag found in the pcb version of the game. So, legit, Saturn players have an advantage. The input lag in Mame is terrible. I'm tempted to try the game in a Saturn emulator.
There is a version of shmupmame that reduces the lag specifically for the YGW trilogy, but 1) It barely works now, and 2) it actually hacks the game to reduce the lag happening within the pcb, so it technically is not the original arcade game, and could be considered unfair.

So, just to make sure, the final game list is:
Garegga
Jamestown
Espgaluda
Deathsmiles
Yeah? We ever decide what is happening with Jamestown? Or how we are handling DS emulation? Am I being a prick by repeatedly asking these things?
