Red and Gold and a Silver and Black. The Iron man looking one is a bit too gaudy for me, but I wish I had waited and gotten the silver/black one. I have the black/red one and it looks alright but the red makes it too toy like, the silver one is more . . . electronicy.

So do NES's.
Re: New Styled Retro Duos
The top loading NES is very well designed and built. Although pricey, a true collector doesn't let little things like money get in the way of what they want.

Some collectors may beg to differ and believe it is the hunt and frugality that is the key to collecting.corn619 wrote:The top loading NES is very well designed and built. Although pricey, a true collector doesn't let little things like money get in the way of what they want.
I for one coming to video collecting from rocks and coins always enjoyed my earlier collections due to the cheapness of it (coin collecting can get expensive... but you learn how to be cheap).
And yes, that's how dorky I was as a kid. I was the only 8 year old collecting geodes and mica when everyone else was playing baseball. I was very surprised to find the abundance of so many weird stones in New England. I actually found a 16 inch diameter geode on a hill side in Worcester.

One year later and I'm still loving my white/blue Retro Duo. So it's not that big of a piece of crap.
Re: New Styled Retro Duos
If theres something I want thats really rare, I'll pay a little extra to get it as opposed to getting the cheaper fake alterative. Lord, I agree though finding rare stuff on the cheap is a good way to collect though. But sometimes the need to have something overcomes the need to be frugal. At least wih me, once I see something I really want I don't quit until I have it. Most of the time I find a good price, sometimes I pay a little more in order to have it. Ain't nothing like the real thing.lordofduct wrote:Some collectors may beg to differ and believe it is the hunt and frugality that is the key to collecting.corn619 wrote:The top loading NES is very well designed and built. I looked at the toploaders and I would have preferred it but not willing to forgo the $100 for one. I was more or less anxious to get some nes games since there were always games for it I wanted but after buying the 3rd grey box that didn't work, I decided the retro duo was a pretty cool thing. And it was $45 bucks and also lets me play my snes games while preserving my un-yellowed snes.

I have both NES models, but the toaster gets practically all the play time, I just don't like RFcorn619 wrote:The top loading NES is very well designed and built. Although pricey, a true collector doesn't let little things like money get in the way of what they want.
