Err, I'm not holding out for anything. As far as I'm aware Sega own the Bayonetta IP and could move it onto other consoles if they so wished. They probably won't because they can't afford to but they can.

A couple of examples of games funded by a platform holder that became multiplats: Ninja Gaiden and Mass Effect. Not trying to aggravate anyone, just pointing this out that's all.

Whoa there, cowboy. I'd think of myself as a realist too, I just have a different opinion and place less importance on the issues you identify than you do. I'm not a teenager anymore who pumps hours and hours of my life into gaming. I work, I'm married, I have a mortgage and responsibilities. I just play games to escape from the every day bullshit and as years have gone by, I've found myself caring less and less about the politics of the games industry. It works like this for me: Are there games I want to play on the system? Yes? Then cool, that works for me. I don't need lots and lots of games, a powerhouse in hardware or lots of third party support or whatever. Just enough good, fun games for me to play in the evenings and weekend.
Same here, job, mortgage, wife, and a three year old, and my wife has been mostly out of work well over a year now due to an incurable (only manageable) issue. Needless to say you can guess money is very tight, so I'm far more sensitive when buying something and not feeling I'm getting the value out of it and that sadly has been my experience. I like what I have, wish there was more, and that's all there is to read into it. I could give a damn much about the politics other than the childish ones from the media and developer side that end up impacting a system I put money into. Like that whole immature feeding frenzy of gamer gate and other rotten politics I keep out of. I can only put so many hours into games anymore since my TV is shared with my little girl, the only free devices anymore are handhelds and the laptop.

Mass Effect took, what? Like 5 or 6 years to reach another platform? I'm not saying it's impossible, just if it ever does happen, it'll be a long time from now.

Also, not sure if it's true or not, but I read in an article that the decision would be entirely down to Nintendo. Not Sega.

I'm sorry to hear that, man. I'm not sure why we're discussing all our issues though lol, but since we are, I've had it tough too. I was made redundant from my job earlier this year, due to the closure of the department I was in, with 12 centres closing down. I did luckily get a new job, thinking it was great, only to learn last month that myself and the group I'm in are, you guessed it, at risk of redundancy. Fortunately, I've been successful in acquiring a new job within the same company, so I'm no longer at risk of redundancy. But the problem is, I've had to take a significant pay cut and it's only part time. So yeah, money's tough at the moment for me as well.

So, we probably just need to agree to disagree. We have different opinions. I like the Wii U for what it is and can't really be bothered picking at the faults. You're a little more disappointed by it. That's okay though.

I really don't either other than to put some perspective on the attitude over it all. I know if a $350 system were fluff money I'd almost positively not care how many or few things a system got, but when it's me saving a long time, flipping stuff I find or would rather not part with, or whatever to get there it just stings. I'm sorry to hear you fall into lame redundancy tactics of the machine there like that, mine is a safe position for what it is, but safe pays less than risky so it's a trade off.

Well...
If the game has tanked, and Wii U is not selling well, then I guess Nintendo will take any amount of money for the Bayonetta 2 to be released on any other console. Since its not going to push or grow the market of the competition, why not make even more money out of it.

I feel like Nintendo made a big mistake by funding this game. Why would they buy exclusive rights to a game that emphasises adult material which didn't sell well on ps3/360 to make it an exclusive on their Wii U which is obviously marketed toward young audience?

(update: I checked VGchartz and the first Bayonetta sold about 2m. Thats not bad, is it? )

2M is actually really great, unless it's a company with bad budgeting processes and unrealistic expectations like how Square-Enix felt Tomb Raider failed selling twice as much.

Surprised to see people still think that Bayonetta 2 won't be available on competing consoles in the same generation. After all, Kamiya himself said:

"As I have said earlier, if you want Bayonetta 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, how about trying to ask Nintendo… If Nintendo doesn’t say yes, it’s not going to happen… While you’re at it, try asking for Mario and Zelda too…"

Oh wait... that's not so comforting. But hey, we should believe some random guys in a retro gaming forum thread instead because what the hell does he know?

Keep on waiting guys. In fact, do us a favor and start holding your breath now. I'm sure the PS4/XBone announcement will be out any moment.

What's next? People will start asking for Sonic on a Nintendo console. Oh, wait... :P

It's not unknown for Nintendo exclusives to get ported. Do you remember the Capcom 5?:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capcom_Five

Those were all supposed to be exclusive to Nintendo's GameCube. Of the four games that were actually made, three of them were ported to PS2 eventually. Stuff like that gives people hope of a port for Bayonetta 2. What matters here though, is that Bayonetta 2 was actually published by Nintendo. So it's highly unlikely we'll see it ported.
