Just keep it moving, whatever people dwell on is what others will pay attention to.
Dunpeal, give me your in depth opinions on Bayonetta, I demand it!

Re: The Bayonetta 2 Thread
I'm hoping to get the game finished before doing a writeup on it, since I still want to see how the game is when going for Pure Platinum, and on the higher difficulties.
But, as far as I've been, its just... its hard to not overhype. It takes specific elements that I love across the genre and pushes them to the limit. No game actually had "it all" for me in the genre, so I'd find myself going to different games for different things.
It has the feel, the flow of combat that I adore in DMC3. That overall epic feeling when fighting even a small group of enemies, the holy shit feels when you encounter a boss, both in design and combat.
But, it manages to also have what I love in God Hand, which is freedom. Not just "use what you like" freedom, but that each and every move can link into each other, and no matter how silly something is that I try, it works and feels slick. For example, I got a downward air kick, that can also be used to kick upward from the ground. So, I figure, I wonder if I can abuse this? So, as fast as I can input, I try to jump into the kick (kick immediately after a jump) and then smash down with the same move as soon as possible (pushing a direction at the same time as your kick, in air). The result is what you would actually want to happen, a slick series of kicks into and out of the air, that not only hit enemies multiple times, but cover ground and can help me move around. That comes from ONE move. When you start looking at multiple attacks, and where certain attacks will fall into a special "Wicked Weave", you can create some really fun, and effective combos.
Spoilered since finding new moves and such might be something people don't want spoiled.
Whats really great is that the game actually gives you a reason to come up with these crazy ideas, just in its alfhiem missions. (Or at least it does for me, its possible that I am just bad and have to come up with some wacky shit to get through them!). Its often that I'll walk into one of these, and think "... this isn't possible with what I have now", but with perseverance I've always been able to come up with something that works.
On top of all of that, the game has set pieces that are mind-melting. Bayonetta 1, for me, too often relied on a flashy gunfight or sexy dance-around for its cinematics. Bayonetta 2 never really feels like it falls into a predictable pace when it comes to its scenes and set pieces, but still manages to capture what made the first game special in the first place.
I could go on and on. To me, this is the perfect sequel. It takes what the first game was doing above and beyond, without sacrificing anything you would have loved from the first game. I think the game would appeal to those that adore the first game, and those that found it disappointing, without sacrificing anything for either audience.
So... that, i guess, is me wanting to wait to do a write-up.

I have a feeling this thread could get into deep spoiler discussion territory once you finish the game.

Well at least you have an excuse to replay the first one now? It looks like it's allowed you to greatly compare and contrast the differences between the two.
Re: The Bayonetta 2 Thread
Just started playing Bayonetta 2, havent played the first one, but will go back if the 2nd one entertains me enough.
So far the Combo system seems a bit button mashy to me, i prefer God of War to the Bayonetta Combo's, i feel like in GoW i could tell what Combo's i was doing visually, while in Bayonetta all the PPPPPP's and KKKKK's kinda meld together and it's hard to tell what im doing with all the action on screen.
But i guess if i want some Platinum's i better start trying to keep track of what Combo's im doing.
Im really liking the game none the less and cant wait to unlock some of the Nintendo themed costumes, and the graphics are amazing.
What im really trying to say is, i prefer GoW, and would buy a PS4 for GoW4.
Enzo is annoying as hell.

Re: The Bayonetta 2 Thread
I'm on Chapter... X I think? Stopped playing to focus on my miserable shmup scores for the STGT Tourney...
Regardless, Enzo has not reappeared since the Prologue as far as I can see, worry not
Also, I don't personally find combos to be the limiting factor in getting Platinum/Pure Platinums (not that I've gotten a ton of them honestly)... I find time and damage taken to be far more limiting, probably because I'm just focusing on the set pieces too much and eating way too much damage. But it seems like my combos are always the highest/tied for highest of the bunch, and I'm certainly not going out of my way to vary it up.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Re: The Bayonetta 2 Thread
Is it just me or is the game way harder than the first one? I breezed through the first game on 'Normal' difficulty. I'm finding Bayonetta 2 really challenging, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Edit: I take it back. It is a bad thing, because I suck at this and it's impossible. I'm going to change the difficulty as soon as I finish Chapter VII (if I ever finish Chapter VII
). You can change the difficulty right?
