Well, now that i'm getting the caterpillars I don't have bomb stock for the other early game secret. Uggh.

Still, very happy to be playing this again - I learn and improve each time I dig this one out - so much depth and strategy and the different characters each have such distinct differences this game can be played so many ways.

Improvement:
mjmjr25 - The Smorking Section - 1,984,670 - Stage 4 - Rust Champion - SAT

Yeah the different characters definitely lend a good depth. I like Chitta's extra fighters the best, but I'm learning Boannam(?)'s hitbox (for lack of a better term) quicker which is letting me get to a whopping Stage 2 more consistently.

I wonder how much I'm handicapping myself by playing with a keyboard. Ah well.

If you are comfortable with a keyboard, then you aren't handicapping yourself at all.

All of my scores have been submitted using a Gamestop-brand wired 360 controller d-pad.

Had 4 lives starting stage 4 and it was just madness. Lost my composure and died 4x in less than 90 seconds. Insane rank.

FYI I updated my score yesterday since I improved in the next run, didn't want to double post, thought everyone was asleep by then.

Played the game for the first time, yesterday:

JoeAwesome - The Fighting Mongooses - 505370 - Stage 2 - Silver Sword - Mame

Btw, the bullets are ridiculous. I haven't played the vast majority of popular shmups, but this one is extremely frustrating. Progress is slow, but it is happening.
