SUPER BUMP!
I wanted to keep the original post intact, so I'll add some new stuff here. Some cool additions since the last post 4 years ago.
Here's my light gun project. I found a 27" Trinitron and put it on top of an old-school TV cart. It's the perfect height for standing up while playing guncon/ DC/ Saturn shmups. And of course, Lethal Enforcers 1 & 2 on the Genny.
Here's a guncon pedal that Red Octane produced back in the day. Very nice, heavy duty.
Next Trinitron project- 36" Trinitron which came with a dedicated stand. Check out the old particle board TV cart from the original post. My daughter and I took some 2X4's, cut and stained them to create risers on the bottom of the cart. This created a "standing height" joystick pedestal to recreate the classic dynamo showcase cabinet.
Here's what's parked under the TV- Neo Geo CMVS with tons of features, Xbox with CoinOps, another DC, and hookups for GC/SNES/N64 (same A/V) . I've got 2 SF2 anniversary sticks for the xbox, as well as a handful of converters to use PS2 sticks as well.
New Decor over the last few years.
Here's the best option I've found for storing my sticks- I want to be able to grab and go, otherwise I won't use them.
Neo Geo, 3 years down. After 20 years, I took the plunge. I was a teen when this machine came out, and there's something insanely majestic about this system that was always out of reach.
Very slow growth lately, as once you've got the commons, it gets harder to find each new addition. My priority is US / English titles. There are a handful of JPN titles as well. You're looking at a complete US Dog Tag Collection, one of the few examples of SNK US actually showing some semblance of organization. Shock troopers is a conversion because it doesn't exist in AES form. Metal Slug is a conversion because it might as well not exist in AES form. Also some MVS titles, along with a "less than savory" 161 multicart.

Here's a wonderful REI unit with Component output and unibios. The component is almost too vivid; S-Video looks beautiful.
