PVM Trinitron / 20M4U settings reset?

Post by Ghudda »

So I've had my PVM 20M4U now for about 6 months and it's been fantastic. The previous, original owner, of the monitor was a video editor and so I've been thinking that maybe i'd like to reset all the settings back to "factory" just because maybe he's set things to his needs and maybe there are settings enabled that I do not want enabled (if that makes any sense?) I've really only tweaked the horizontal and vertical positioning due to some games not being naturally centered, but havn't fully explored the other wide range of settings that the monitor has to offer.

Does anyone suggest that I do reset all the settings back to factory default and then tweak everything specifically to my needs? I should honestly spend more time reading more into the monitor to take full advantage of it, but just havn't dedicated the time to it.

Also, I believe we need a PVM Owners thread on the forums.

Haha well seriously those PVM's have very complicated settings, and if the picture is looking fine now I wouldn't recommend resetting it, might end up looking worse

BTW factory settings are usually shit cause they are the "look good in the showroom" settings, which obviously have very different lightining circumstances compared to your house

Gotcha, thanks both of you for the input. Yeah scrolling through the service menu is a somewhat daunting task and outside of the vertical and horizontal position settings, I never touch anything else. I just depend on the front knobs for the time being.

Were PVM's sold in major retail outlets or were they really only obtainable through specialty video stores/catalogs? It's hard to think that PVM's would be seen on store shelves with a "showroom" preset.
