i wasnt trying to be anti Asian to the people i was meaning the products that come from there are not so great in quality and fail at a quick rate.
i would never be racist to Asian members on Racketboy forums as its a great forum with great people
what do you do when the battery dies on a PS3 controller ?

I know, bud. I was joking, referring to someone else flipping out in a different thread, equating disdain for cheaply made Chinese parts as racism.s8n wrote:i wasnt trying to be anti Asian to the people i was meaning the products that come from there are not so great in quality and fail at a quick rate.

But I wonder... Is the USB cable that comes with a PS3 for the controller an actual DATA cable or just a CHARGE cable? As in, will the controller communicate with the console over USB if you plug it in? Or will the cable simply power the controller and it will still communicate over Bluetooth?8bit wrote:That would definitely work.ZeroAX wrote:Can't you connect it to the PS3 with a USB cable and use it as a "wired" controller?
....honestly have no idea if this would work xD

It is an actual data cable, as evidenced from the fact that with a certain driver, you can make it work on a PC over USB.

Re: what do you do when the battery dies on a PS3 controller
hi members , i have received 1 of the 2 PS3's i bought.............
i fixed it in about 1 minute , it had that classic ' black screen of death ' problem , tomorrow i am going to pickup the other PS3 from Australia Post.
i did get 3 controllers with the PS3 today , 2 are 3rd party and 1 is official. I went to work on the official the problem with it is it wont charge for some reason so ive disassembled the controller and when im trying to charge it via USB i get no reading with my DMM , i probed on the connector pins that are soldered to the PCB with the battery connected. Ive done some googling and tried some stuff to no avail ' reset button ' , ' charge via PC and PS3 ' but yeah no go.
do you guys have any tips ?
even though im pretty stoked with a $50 AU PS3 and it took a minute to fix
