I don't think so. They want you to buy a new controller.

That means it's soldering time.

tell me more about this , from what ive seen on ebay theres a connector on the end of 2 wires to the battery i thought it was a plug and play solution

the batteries on ebay are from China/Hong Kong , im really skeptical they will last long like most stuff from over there

Also, yeah, you're screwed basically. Time for a new controller.

Cheap and/or sketchy batteries aren't worth it. At the least, the battery might have to be charged more often than the original. That and/or the life cycle might be short. Or it might not work at all.

The battery pack will have a positive and negative connection (those two wires). So if you were so inclined, you could hunt down a replacement (unofficial) battery pack that would be compatible and just solder in the wires if needed.

Can't you connect it to the PS3 with a USB cable and use it as a "wired" controller?

....honestly have no idea if this would work xD

Ah, didn't know they were nice enough to make a connector since they didn't make it an external battery pack like MS. I figured they'd just hard wire it. I guess they were making it easy on themselves to refurbish them.

Yeah, which I should point out, if you were able to find a compatible replacement battery pack that had a wire lead, you could just cut and twist wires (if you don't know how to solder).

I just bought a new battery, opened the controller up and plugged it in.
Details in an old post here.

That would definitely work.
