Eventually it gave up the ghost, and I tried replacing the Bluetooth module to no avail. You can snag a working console-only Wii from ebay for about $40, while replacement BT and WiFi modules run about $10 each. Add to that the hassle of disassembling and reassembling the console (since it's so compact it's a real pain) and it might just be worthwhile to get a new Wii. With custom firmware you can easily get back any WiiWare or VC games that were on the old console, so all you're out is save files.
Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, I picked up this wii for about $7 and so I thought i'd give repairing it a shot. It's already fully disassembled down to the motherboard and I did go ahead and order a replacement bluetooth module so we'll see if that does the trick. I'm still a bit paranoid that the console was bricked but I really don't see that being the case.

Ghudda , i just thought of this try holding Reset and then press Power if your lucky Priiloader will pop up.

also another thing to try is ' Service Mode ' you plug a controller into the player 4 port and press down on all buttons on the directional pad and turn the WII on. You can use a clamp to do it or dismantle the controller to expose the rubber if you dont have a clamp.

btw have you ordered the BT Module is it on its way ?

Thanks for the suggestions, I had tried the gamecube controller fix but couldn't get it to work. I just tried the reset trick and that also wasn't responsive. I ordered the BT module and it should be here on Saturday. Let me know if there are anymore suggestions but i'll definitely update when the part gets here.

if you do get it to boot when you get the BT and are thinking of Softmodding use the below guide. There are others where they take shortcuts , ive used this one 18 of my WII's never had a problem.

Nice, yeah I never modded my original Wii and I see no reason to not soft mod this one and i'll give that guide a follow. Don't see why I won't be able to get this up and running, but it'd be a shame to see such a minty, extremely lightly used Wii go to waste.

ive bought about 6-7 broken WII's before and i got all working except 1 , one of the WII's cost $1 which was awesome.

down here in Australia most people are clueless with Consoles.............

but even if you cant get this current WII working you will have some spare parts which i got with the one i cant fix , to me mine is a Full Brick.

my mum gets grouchy when i buy broken Consoles , shes like ' so its ready for the bin ! '

So, received the module, plugged it in, and nothing. Same issue. Again, just to make sure, I have the whole disc drive disconnected when turning on the system so i'm only powering the motherboard and the on board components. Just to triple check, the system WILL boot without the drive connected, correct? Not sure what to try next. I COULD order a replacement Wifi module and give that try, but i'm still contemplating it.

Alright nice. This may be a stupid question, but where is the internal storage located? Is it a 512mb flash memory chip mounted to the mobo? And if in my case, this is a full brick, what could have caused it other than custom firmware related issues? And there are no practical solutions to a full brick, correct?

to my knowledge BT Module , WIFI Module , possibly a bad update from Disc.......im not sure of anymore reasons for the black screen issue your getting.

with my WII that i cant fix it its apparently a Full Brick , i posted i needed some help with it and on 2 different forums people said it cant be fixed.

i think though the NAND can be reprogrammed and then it will work but it requires a programmer.
