Dimahoo

Filename - dimahoo.zip

I've already got my Garegga on. Sharpening the knives...

Watch out, out guys. The mutha Smorkers are shooting for higher than second-to-last this year. (Or did we get last?)

EDIT: Yep. We were last. Well noisey... looks like the only direction is up. 8)

Somebody explain this Jamestown bruhaha to me. So we're playing on legendary, but I need to unlock it first by beating normal difficulty, is that right?

I played the first level yesterday with the sound off so missed the music. Also, am I right in thinking you can do 4-player? Would be cool as the vertical scrolling on a horizontal layout makes everything seem so far away, though I was playing on novice so maybe that's why I thought there were so few enemies.

Not trying to crap on Jamestown, I did vote for it after all. Just want to make sure I'm ready come week 2.

It's up in the air - one idea is just like a caravan-ish mode, hi-score for stage 1 (or 2, 3, etc) regardless of difficulty.

Is the scoring system particularly deep/what's the special scoring gimmick (i.e. chaining etc.)? Is the difference in difficulty modes merely the number of levels, or can I expect a higher score on level 1 in legendary compared to novice mode.

If divulging this info will give away your secret to getting top score, then no worries, I'll do some googling.

Scoring is mostly chaining, yes. It's pretty intuitive - the max score would be on Legendary as there are significantly more enemies...but it is also significantly more difficult to complete the stage and get end stage and boss fight bonuses...in fact, i'm not even sure it records your score unless you beat the boss.

What are thoughts? Shall we just pick one stage to go for score on? Does this seem like a decent idea folks?

Thanks MJ.

I don't really get why we would want to limit ourselves to just one stage. If people want the standard to be Legendary, but that requires unlocking, as long as the unlocking is straight forward enough that anyone can do it then why not. Perhaps I might not fare well on stage one but get a brilliant score on stage 2, for example.

Although, personally, since I can't get hold of the extra DLC over here, would prefer if we stick to content only available in the main release.

Since I actually spent my hard earned pocket money on this game (all 99 cents of it or whatever it was), don't want to limit myself to just the first stage.

Limiting to stage in this game makes sense as your score doesn't add up after each stage UNLESS you clear the entire game, I believe.

Each stage records high scores.

It can take hours to open up Legendary and it might turn some people off - you have to beat novice...and then 3 more difficulty levels before it will open up. Credit feeding can work...sort of - you have to clear each section on one life though, meaning if someone gets stuck on a boss or something, they can't just "continue", they must start that stage over.

So, to open up the entire game, unless you are highly highly skilled, i'd guesstimate 5-6 hours at least. I think that's what it took me to open everything up. Since some of us get an hour a day max - knowing we need to put in 5-6 hours just to open everything up, that might be off-putting.

I think we should probably just stick to one stage at one set difficulty that is available from the start and Caravan it up!
