That was a typo. Supposed to be 12000. But capitalism supports for perceived value when determining cost. Sometimes that is shoddier quality but for the cheap price.pepharytheworm wrote:What are even trying to imply? The craftsman buys the expensive one while the casual user buys the cheap one.Even if that is a typo that is pretty true that a lot of people equate a price tag to quality.

No offence, but this discussion is really boring. Who really gives a fuck? Well, evidently people do, but I don't see why. Oh my God, Nintendo now prints their codes on the back of the cover art!? THE BASTARDS! (side note: They're not doing that here in Europe). They don't provide instruction booklets that no one ever reads? Nintendo manufactures their products in China, like EVERY SINGLE COMPANY? They provide some of the highest quality games and are consistently good? They sell games, generally, at a cheaper RRP than PS4 and Xbox One? QUICK, LET'S ALL BOYCOTT NINTENDO!
QFT.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I don't understand why people would be complaining that the registration codes are on the back of the cover art. Does the actual games suck? Are you seeing a drop in game quality and entertainment? Why is this worth arguing over? This isn't on-disc DLC here...it is a piece of paper.
I don't know how a company reducing paper costs is a bad thing? Screw the environment, I need that piece of paper.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Main complaint I have with printing codes on the reverse of the cover is that I'd prefer that be used for an alternate cover. It's a great place to put a more subtle/tasteful cover that leaves out ratings logos, ignores the standard template, etc.
Also, the cases are opaque, so it's not as obvious. It makes more sense with, say, standard PS3 cases.
Objectively, the shift away from packing a case full of paper, for a standard edition, is a good one. Producers can do so much more with on-disc materials that anyone who ever possesses the game disc will have (lot easier to find a readme.txt than the original manual for a PC game, right?).
Not that they necessarily do, mind you, but they could. Consider the sheer volume of "teach you how to play" content that your average fighting game rolls in now, for instance.
Additionally, there's the angle of digital distribution. Practically speaking, standardizing a digital manual means settling on something that can be included just as easily with a digital copy as a physical one. In the current market, that just makes sense.
For the Wii U, that's more what I think the situation is. Nintendo is actually pushing for digital sales on it, and it has the Gamepad screen to put digital manuals on anyway.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Can't they just print the code on the disk directly?

I don't see why they couldn't. Perhaps next to cut costs they could just make entirely cardboard cases from recycled paper like those flimsy dvd cases from some years ago and then only use one color of ink at a minimum on the disc and just print the name, legal junk, and the club code right on it.
Next you can sell the system as console in a bag, supply your own case by using your own sterlite boxes and tupperware to stylize it how you want to.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
So changing topic a little, sorry, but who's enjoying Bayonetta 2?
I've only just started it today, as I made myself complete the first Bayonetta before starting the second (I own the original on the PS3, but never completed it. So figured I'd play through the Wii U version). I completed the first game this morning and having played it non-stop since Friday, I thought I might be a little sick of the series and that Bayonetta 2 might not have much of an impact on me. How wrong I was.
So far, Bayonetta 2 is so awesome. Straight away, it seems to have taken everything great from the first game and upped it a million times. The fights and set pieces are awesome and my God, the game is beautiful. I'm glad I started with the first one, because Bayonetta 2 seems even better and it may have been harder to go back to the first one after playing the second.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I have to agree, Bayonetta 2 blows the first game out of the water. It is insanely good. Combos feel more fluent, difficulty is curved better, the QTE stuff is done better, the scoring/ranking is miles better, the set pieces, the enemies... everything. I have yet to find a single thing wrong with this game.
I liked the first game, but it was not a top tier action game. This, however, may need a new tier. I like it more than any 3D action game I've ever played. Yes, more than God Hand. I know, wild.
I think I may go for the Pure Platinum, at least on 3rd Climax. We'll see if Infinite Climax is still appealing after that.
Seriously though, if you thought the first Bayonetta was alright, but not outstanding, do NOT let that stop you from picking this game up. Its wonderful. Sharing any more could spoil the amazing shit that happens in this game, but if you aren't sold, just watch the prologue.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Probably could, but, far as I know commercial grade printing is still etched plates and silk screened discs. Not things that lend themselves to changing for every copy. So they're taking already-printed materials and running them through something else to stamp a unique code on.ZeroAX wrote:Can't they just print the code on the disk directly?
Doing that with paper is probably a lot simpler. Offhand, I can't think of something that's put a code or serial directly on the disc.

@dunpeal2064 Nicely put. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'm waiting for some holiday sales like buy 2 get 1 sales. I want to pick up some older games like Rayman Legends and Batman Origins.
I went nuts with those sales on Amazon when the DS and PSP was big a few years ago. Scored some good games.
