That would be a good discussion. I admire both NES games, and I they both have aspects that the - admittedly excellent - Link's Awakening lacks.Luke wrote:Better than any NES based Zelda game? Now there is a discussion.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Link's Awakening.
Best Game Boy game ever? I'm inclined to think so.
What are you playing?

And after that discussion we can talk about how Metroid II was awesome, then horrible, back to awesome, and back to horrible again.
I still don't know what to think about that game. It's like when "new Becky" was on Roseanne. It looked better, but wasn't the same.

Re: What are you playing?
I love Metroid II. Played it repeatedly in my youth. Never heard a single negative word about it until I got the internet.
As for Zelda... Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and the original are my top three. There are several entries to the series I have yet to play, however.

I own that game. Fiddled around with it but never come close to beating it. Perhaps it's time?prfsnl_gmr wrote: I'm sorry. The correct answer is Donkey Kong. You were so, so close, however.

It has always been just OK. I would love to see Nintendo remake it.

You should. It is one of the very best puzzle-platformers. The mechanics are very different, but since you liked The Lost Vikings, I expect you will like it too. (Also, I am just kidding about it being better than Link's Awakening. The games are like apples and oranges...They are both delicious, but the one you prefer will depend entirely upon your tastes.)

Super Mario Land 2 and Tetris deserve nods, surely?

Re: What are you playing?
Mole Mania and Tetris deserve nods, but I actually prefer Super Mario Land 3 and Wario Land II to Super Mario Land 2...and I don't rank either the Wario Land games among the very best games in the original Gameboy's library. (I understand why someone might, however.)Sload Soap wrote:Super Mario Land 2 and Tetris deserve nods, surely?

No clue why this strikes me as funny, but it does. I can picture someone asking:BoneSnapDeez wrote:...I got the internet.
Bone, what is wrong? Something has to be wrong, as I can see it in your face. Tell me!
Bone: *wipes hand across forehead, and places hand under his chin* I got... I...I got the Internet.
God bless the super gameboy and Gameboy player. The Metroid series plays oh so well on them and really breathes new life into the small screened games.
Surely.Sload Soap wrote:Super Mario Land 2 and Tetris deserve nods, surely?
Super Mario Land 2 is like the Super Mario 2 I expected for the NES.
Re: What are you playing?
I'd give it to Link's Awakening, mainly because it's my favorite Zelda, but DK '94 is absolutely fantastic. If there's a game that deserves to be uttered in the same breath on the old GB, it's that one.

Re: What are you playing?
I've tried on numerous occasions to get into the Wario Land series and just can't. I'm not too big on puzzle-platformers though on the whole. (I couldn't get into Braid of Fez either.) I don't want to think, I want to run and jump!
Donkey Kong is pretty cool although even there I hit a wall after a while. I totally get why people like it.

Wario Land on the VB should be right up your alley. It's a very, very fun game.Sload Soap wrote:I've tried on numerous occasions to get into the Wario Land series and just can't.
