Re: Best Dynasty Warriors Game on PS2??
Best is subjective, obviously. I was a huge fan of 3/3xl, loved leveling the characters up and finding the top-tier weapons, consistently trying to get the better stats on items. It was in-depth without being too much so in my mind. I thought 4 and 5 went over the top with some of their options, and 2 was single-player.
DW1 wasn't even a true Warriors game, and I think it was for PS1 anyway...

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Re: Best Dynasty Warriors Game on PS2??
2 is too rudimentary and ugly.
3 is great. Excellent starting point.
4 introduced a character creation option and one-on-one duel mode. Also was easier to unlock characters due to Musou Mode being broken up by kingdom rather than character. Graphically, it looks better than 3 as well.
5 felt like a step backwards in leveling up, which may throw you for a bit if you only played 4. Also has tower defense stuff in it, which you might or might not like.
6 is also on PS2, but you might as well get that for a last-gen system for the visual upgrades, so I don't count it.
My pick:
4 ≥ 3 > 5 > 2

How is 6 anyway? I don't have a PS3 - I just happened to come across an essentially unused PS2 (guy said he played it twice for an hour or two each time) at a yard sale and couldn't resist.TSTR wrote:2 is too rudimentary and ugly.

Otherwise it sounds like 4 might be the winner...

Haven't played 6 myself, but apparently it made some pretty hefty changes to the combat system, like the addition of a gauge and skill trees, and the removal of individual movesets.

There are also the Samurai Warriors and Warrior Orochi games if your into that. Most of those were also released for last gen consoles as well though.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. That game was pretty damn fun.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
