Perhaps nobody has done a study about the correlation between the two, and the suggested symbols were just an available option for those who attend conventions that feel they are an easier expression than confrontation. Perhaps the answer isn't given simply because it isn't known.

I'm not being a smart ass, it is a possibility that some coordinator just came up with it as a convenience and not out of necessity.

 I've been on the verge of signing up a few times already... but in the past few months I've acquired Futari and Ketsui boards and am even finding it hard to find time to play those :( I didn't even put any time into Super-X this month...

when does sign up end?

The youtube comments for the video I posted might be the closest you'll get to an answer

My guess is that it parallels the rate of psychopathy in congress.

I have seen that sort of color code thing used at anime cons. It wasn't specifically for people on the spectrum I don't believe, like a lot of cosplayers were really praising the system and wanted it used more often because they hated people 'gomping' them and ruining their costumes and that sort of thing.

I think it's kinda silly, but I've never worked hard on a costume and had other people ruin it. There were certainly times where I wish I could just tell people to stop bothering me without coming off as a jackass, though.

As far as autism rates among bronies... I dunno. I actually know a lot of people both online and off who are self proclaimed bronies, but I'd never think to ask them if they are autistic - not because I don't suspect it, because in a lot of case I do if I had to be honest with myself - but it's just something I don't feel is socially acceptable to ask.

I don't feel like it's any worse than the Sonic fanbase, but that's not exactly high praise.

I have no idea what you are talking about

(though to be fair the European Sonic fanbade didn't get influenced by the Archie comics so it's not so fucked up  )

I and some others did give personally experiences with autism and fandom? What are you looking for, a study? I am sure you searched it by now and if you didn't find one we sure won't either.

But if you type MLP and autism you get a lot of results. Here's a poll on a MLP fan site.

I also should note that it is very common to have gender issues for people on the spectrum. That alone might drive more people on the spectrum to MLP then other fandoms.

Yeah I don't think you're going to get anything definitive on the 'are there lots of bronies on the spectrum' question, since the best we could do is hope someone who's active in those communities comes in and talks about it, and frankly I don't think a lot of people in those communities felt particularly welcome around here.

...probably because people keep associating them with pedophiles.

Even then though I doubt they'd have insight, all you can do is speculate, and frankly trying to deduce who is/isn't autistic based on their posts or something seems rude as hell.

I don't see anyone doing that in this thread.

Maybe not in this thread particularly but we have had other Brony topics pop up. Either way whether or not people said anything about pedophilia doesn't matter as I have read enough negative comments about them in this thread and on this forum that her point still stands.
