Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
It's interesting this came up, because I had a similar "debate" on another forum, in which I basically got told I'm an idiot and wrong for preferring "one of the worst consoles of all time".
In case it's not obvious, I brought up the fact I actually prefer the my Vita to my 3DS and play it more often. I know the Vita has "a lack of games", but I don't really play handheld consoles much anyways.

If you thought that was patronizing, you need to practice human interaction more often. I was just being polite and acknowledging your post. It's not like there was something to discuss, basically I love pizza and you just told me you prefer burgers.

I practice plenty of human interaction. Enough to know that is typically used as a sarcastic and dismissive remark. May be a cultural difference thing.ZeroAX wrote:Jmustang1968 wrote:Nice patronizing response there, found my new response for all of your forum posts from now on...ZeroAX wrote:

No no no, the correct response was to do some cultural posturing. Maybe something like "my ancestors were civilized while yours were still banging rocks".ZeroAX wrote:probablyJmustang1968 wrote: I practice plenty of human interaction. "Good for you" is generally perceived as a somewhat sarcastic, down-looking phrase pretty often in the U.S. Similar to how some people use "Bless your heart".

That's not funny nor true. He could have the same ancestors as you.ZeroAX wrote:He's American, he has no ancestorsMrPopo wrote: No no no, the correct response was to do some cultural posturing. Maybe something like "my ancestors were civilized while yours were still banging rocks".
But the "good for you" thing was totally funny. I live with someone on the autistic spectrum and sentences like that can be very confusing to communicate with them with. Quiet literally "good for you" would be a pleasant acknowledgement and sometimes we still use it the polite way in America. More often though it is a dismissive statement now.

That's what's supposed to make the joke funny...pepharytheworm wrote: nor true. He could have the same ancestors as you.
And well, yeah I use good for you as a positive thing, not sure where I picked it up though.
