Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
For all the people who aren't satisfied with their Wii U's you'd think there would be more used ones sold for cheap
. I can find Vitas for killer cheap, but can't find a half decent deal on a Wii U

hm....if it's your only handheld system yes, but I own both a PS3 and a 3DS so I there isn't anything that interests me on it, other than the awesome hardware itself.Jmustang1968 wrote: Thats a shame, Vita is awesome.

We all remember Sony sounding the death bell earlier this year. Better hardware didn't win the "fight" in the handheld space...little phone games charging 0.99c running on a platform that got trojan horse'd through a telephone did. The redesigned Vita removed its best feature (the OLED screen!), and rather than complete the TV-Out functionality from the original model, they gave us the PlayStation TV instead...which will never be able to play some of the best Vita games (Tearaway anyone? One of the best games of the past few generations, and so few people will play it).Jmustang1968 wrote:Thats a shame, Vita is awesome.ZeroAX wrote:For all the people who aren't satisfied with their Wii U's you'd think there would be more used ones sold for cheap. Sony gave up on the Vita a long time ago because they couldn't solve the marketing problem. It's a damn shame. I will continue to enjoy what's available on it for sure (I bought the early adopter one that came out a week before general launch), but I shed some tears for the potential that will never be realized on it.
The Wii U and Vita both suffer from the "perception is reality" problem. The perception problem on the Wii U side is that it's "underpowered" in comparison to its brethren, and yet the games are consistently great. The perception problem on the Vita side is that there are "no games", which translates into "the games I expected aren't there" which translates into a lot of used consoles on the market because the audience that bought into the Vita didn't do it for indies/cross-play/remote play/streaming.
Both are marketing problems really. Both have stupid names, both failed to make their position in the market clear in relation to their previous iterations, and both continue to struggle in a market completely over-saturated with games and competition from telephones.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Is indie support for the thing still strong at least? It might be worth buying in the future, since I love indie games on the 3DS too.

Indie support is still strong, and weird-ish JRPGs too. There's a lot of cross-buy stuff (buy on PS3/PS4, get a Vita copy too), and most of the best indie titles have been available for "free" via PS+. I have a 3DS as well, and have definitely fallen in love with some of the stuff that showed up over there (Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo, Steamworld Dig, Mutant Mudds, Shovel Knight, Shantae and The Pirate's Curse, etc...) and while some of the selection is being duplicated over time, there are still some cool offerings like Limbo, Guacamelee, Escape Plan, etc, etc. If you enjoy handheld gaming, there's a lot to love on either system if you're into indie titles.ZeroAX wrote:Is indie support for the thing still strong at least? Edit: Man, the 3DS has some juicy games in the eShop...

I own em all, and have enjoyed my Vita more than my 3DS. I also dont care for console ports or console-like games on handhelds. So the Vita being home to niche games suits me well.ZeroAX wrote:hm....if it's your only handheld system yes, but I own both a PS3 and a 3DS so I there isn't anything that interests me on it, other than the awesome hardware itself.Jmustang1968 wrote: Thats a shame, Vita is awesome.

If we were going to list all the awesome titles on the eShop, we'd be here all day.ZeroAX wrote:I don't see you listing Gunman Clive and I am feeling sad
