PC-FX, Amiga CD32, and other assorted sexiness

Post by BoneSnapDeez »

I never looked into the system much until yesterday. Surprised to see they aren't that expensive - about the same price I payed for my PC Engine Duo.

There are some interesting RPGs on the system such as Der Langrisser FX, Farland Story FX, Blue Breaker, Last Imperial Prince, and Dragon Knight 4.

Really diggin' the art style of some of these:

I do have reservations about purchasing such a niche console though, and I have a fear that it may become another dust-collecting "collection piece" like my Amiga CD32 rather than a console I regularly play. On the flip side, I have thoroughly enjoyed some other systems that I picked up initially for only one or two games (like my WonderSwan Color or 3DO).

Anyone own one of these? What's worth exploring besides the RPGs?

Can you read Japanese? I've always been interested in this console too. It would be fun to play some random/rare games, but they're all in Japanese. I have seen a list of games that are in English, or don't require reading, but that excludes the RPGs obviously.

He can. I have no idea his skill level, but Bone's at least serviceable.

Haha yeah.

And "serviceable" is a good way to put it Ack.

Otherwise there's no way I would consider one.

I investigated the system for a long time because one was being sold locally for a little over a $100, without games. Although it looked appealing for a few games, namely the three pricey ones that required little to no Japanese, in the end, it wasn't worth getting. Way too niche for someone like me who doesn't know Japanese or like RPGs, though I would've given the translations a shot.
