Same deal with Eternal Sonata, from what I recall.

Erm, why wouldn't they? The last one was one of my favourite games released last year. Seriously, I freaking loved it.Opa Opa wrote:People care about Tomb Raider?

Yeah, but it had come to the PS3 by the time I got my 360, so I was ok.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Same deal with Eternal Sonata, from what I recall.

And by the way, Eternal Sonata was fantastic. Even if it didn't make sense. But then, how many JRPGs do?
For the record, I have that 360 version of Star Ocean. And I haven't touched it in years, and only played it for around three hours. It's one I've been meaning to get back to, but it just hasn't happened. I'm pretty sure that will be the case for many of the RPGs I have. I mean, I just don't have the time to play them all. Even if I stopped buying games entirely now! Priorities, it's all 'bout those priorities.
(So if I'm playing it when I'm 80 years old, don't judge me. I'll be griping about Japanese stereotypes and how it's made for children and identifying with all the old coots that may or may not be in the game.

So people have to like it? I don't even have a Xbone or PS4 and I hate the idea of timed exclusives. It's one of the reasons I dislike modern games more and more. You can't defend every practice a business does just because they are trying to make money.dsheinem wrote:Oh please. OMG companies trying to make money, get an edge, etc. Sleazeballs!Tanooki wrote:

You don't have to like it, you have to accept that doing so isn't slimy or sketchy.pepharytheworm wrote:So people have to like it? You don't have to accept that. You'll accept they do it, there's no choice, but the fact it's done you don't have to accept that it's not sketchy, slimy, or whatever you want to attach to it. And in this case I'm not calling the act of it itself what was sketchy and slimy, I'm calling out how microsoft lied their ass off saying it was their game exclusively and that's it. They attempted to deceive the gaming media press and console owners into thinking I must buy a microsoft console or I can not play this game. That's sketchy and slimy as it's lying. Even after the media dug and got an answer it was timed, MS still when having it thrown in their face would never directly say it was a timed release still dodging around using those words to blur them being called out over the original press release.
I don't recall a game console maker doing that before in that particular manner when called out on it further not telling the truth even after the game developer says it's not permanent.

You know what "accept it" is too hard of language, sorry. The whole "exclusive", "console exclusive", "timed exclusive" thing is marketing lingo BS which is done by both Sony and Microsoft. All they should've done differently is flip the end tag from "Coming Holiday 2015 Exclusive To XBOX" to "Exclusive to Xbox for Holiday 2015." I feel the whole thing is misplaced nerd rage about it because MSFT is the underdog this time out, if Sony had done the same thing I doubt we would've had a blow up at all.Tanooki wrote:You don't have to accept that. Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Why do I have to accept that, who made this unnamed rule that I have to accept that no business practices can be considered slimy or sketchy because they are trying to make money? Geez does everyone agree with "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good". Manipulation for only money I will call slimy, sketchy, sleazy or whatever else I would like. Where did all these business laws come from to protect the consumer then? Obviously action businesses have taken can be deemed as the above mentioned words.Stark wrote:pepharytheworm wrote:You don't have to like it, you have to accept that doing so isn't slimy or sketchy.dsheinem wrote:So people have to like it? Timed exclusives by themselves aren't slimy if you know they are timed.pepharytheworm wrote: Why do I have to accept that, who made this unnamed rule that I have to accept that no business practices can be considered slimy or sketchy because they are trying to make money?
