Re: Together Retro 2015 Poll
Companies could be cool if we stuck to retro ones that have a wide variety of games/genres under their belt. Konami, Capcom, Data East, Midway, Namco, SNK, Sega, etc...

Re: Together Retro 2015 Poll
I came in here wondering what the poll would be about specifically, and I have to say I giggled aloud when I read the choices and had absolutely no idea what was going on.
I read further in and it all became clear, but without context, those options were very amusing.

That's 7/12ths of the list right there. Nintendo, Squaresoft, Activision, Lucas Arts, and Compile to round it out?BoneSnapDeez wrote:Companies could be cool if we stuck to retro ones that have a wide variety of games/genres under their belt. Your mentioning Midway really raises a lot of options in my mind. I think that a TR calender that includes Rampage, NFL Blitz, or Gauntlet Legends could only be better for the inclusion.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yeah but isn't it a crime to restrict ourselves to basically well known games? What about all the hidden gems not published by big companies?Flake wrote: That's 7/12ths of the list right there. Nintendo, Squaresoft, Activision, Lucas Arts, and Compile to round it out?

Re: Together Retro 2015 Poll
Seems like if we went companies things would become a bit biased towards Japanese developers which I don't think is a good thing.

Genres have served us well in the past, and like Popo said, companies can be either broad or narrow.MrPopo wrote:Yeah, I'd go with genres as well. Companies is either too broad (Sega games) or too narrow (Infocom becomes the text adventure genre without any other entries).

I agree, I think we need to stick with genres per month. This way we can continue to have that broad variety that gets various groups of people involved.ExedExes wrote: Genres have served us well in the past, and like Popo said, companies can be either broad or narrow.

Re: Together Retro 2015 Poll
I still think we don't really need either.
The only reason I can see to limit to certain genres each month is to stop us playing certain genres more than once in a year.
I'd rather we just let people pick anything they find interesting to suggest, rather than saying 'and now you have to choose an RPG, and a shmup, and a platformer'

Re: Together Retro 2015 Poll
The thought behind using companies is to shake things up. But if yall dont think that will help, we will stick with a genre concept with a few wildcard months (for things like Toe Jam and Earl and Lemmings).
