No joke, that is actually an option I have looked into fairly heavily.

Honestly nate, if you are only paring down consoles you dont use, there wont be that much of a blowback on you down the road. And if there is, by that time hopefully emulation has caught up with the console and the buy in wont be that bad.

i've had those "sell everything" moments a couple times (going through one right now, actually). i never really regret it, even if i get back into collecting in the future. it's fun to hunt for games, it's fun to find deals and it's fun to sell stuff and hook people up with good games. it's what makes the hobby fun. i don't like being a hoarder, but i really like collecting. it might not be the most financially stable thing for me to do, but it's fun.

I have never had a regret selling anything just think about it a little while and take your time. I would wait till you were moved an then as your unpacking, sell the things you no longer want.

I have also thought of selling my collection and its not really for a monetary gain but rather just because I am unsure if I want to game anymore..but I'm also certain if I do sell it, I will regret it .. I'm only 26 after all and its natural to be busy, I suppose I will eventually get back to it. But yes, if you have rare games, sell them invidiually, I would do so for my collection..some of the top games are

-Albert odyssey
-shining the holy ark
-xenoblade chronicles (sealed)
-bangai o Dreamcast (sealed)

Hang on to what you enjoy and play. For those games that you haven't, do you really, Really, REALLY see yourself playing in the foreseeable future or are they just pretty on a shelf?

I hang on to the games that were amazing to my childhood and are still classics. I've picked up some of the games that the community here really dig, and I selectively collect for one console. Make the hobby fun for you, whether that be playing or collecting.

I used to have a large collection, I got of rid of most of it and I don't regret it one bit. I kept the absolute essentials, like all my RE games for PS1 and my GBA games. But that other stuff? Just taking up space. Plus, my fiance was like this isn't going in our house! So I sold it. Even as I get older I'm sure I will just give some of my most treasured stuff to my nephew, as he seems to like games.

Unless it has a special sentimental value to you, it's really just stuff, that valuable or not, takes up space. I don't like clutter, so I didn't mind seeing it go. I like rooms with big open spaces so I feel like I can breathe.

Always remember: The goal is not to have to biggest game collection in the CEMETERY!
