My favorite thing I've ever heard anyone say about Breaking Bad:

"Breaking Bad, the show so good it finally got TV snobs to shut up about The Wire" - Honest Trailers

The Wire is much, much better than Breaking Bad ever could have hoped to be.

That wasn't really a knock on The Wire, more of a dig on how fanatical fans of it can be and how obnoxious that sometimes is. The way some fans will turn their nose up at you if you don't proclaim The Wire to be the greatest achievement in television history.

I will say though, that I enjoyed Breaking Bad more. I'm not saying it's better than The Wire, looking at both shows objectively, just that I personally enjoyed it more. The Wire is a show that sometimes felt like it was trying to do too much, and there were periods of the show that really dragged and were slow paced. And the lingo of the characters was kind of obnoxiously hard to understand until you got used to it. From a historical perspective, it's one of the most ambitious and thought provoking shows ever made with its ultra realism, authenticity, and social commentary, but those things also worked against it in some ways. I find Breaking Bad more consistently enjoyable and just easier to get into and follow than The Wire. Sometimes less is more. That's one of my mantras.

I couldn't get into The Wire. Its just people talking on screen and its painfully slow. Not sure if it picks up later on or not. My friend who shares similar taste with me, says its really good, I asked if the formula of the show changes or if it picks up he said no...

I do not get whats exciting about that show

"Toys R Us is well known around the world for their vast selection of toys for children of all ages," she wrote. "However their decision to sell a Breaking Bad doll, complete with a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth, alongside children's toys is a dangerous deviation from their family friendly values."
Toys R Us sells video games. I assume they carry T and M rated games, like GTA. They should stop selling those for the same reason.
"Kids mimic their action figures, if you will," she told the station. "Do you want your child in an orange jumpsuit?"
Same argument always comes up with video games. Your kids should know right from wrong, regardless of what action figures they play with (or what video games they play). Either teach your children right from wrong and the difference between real life and make believe, or don't allow them to play with such things. There's no problem. PS, they're yellow hazmat suits, not orange jumpsuits. Unless that's foreshadowing...
"It's sick that a company would design kids toys that glorify the making of meth. It's just as sick to sell them," wrote Jaime Keasler.
When I was growing up we had a lot of action figures from "adult" movies. Aliens, Predator, Terminator, etc. Probably bought a lot of them at Toys R Us. No one complained about that. Some years back I scored a bunch of James Bond action figures from Toys R Us. Kids: It's not OK to cook meth, but go ahead a be a womanizer. There's tons of action figures being made these days for lots of different adult movies and TV shows. No one is forcing you to buy them, or forcing your children to play with them. These arguments are like you're expecting your children to drive themselves to Toys R Us and buy these toys for themselves. And even if they DID, then just don't let them play with them.

Well since the topic has come up here:

If any of you are interested, whether you be toy collectors or just see the petition for the nonsense that it is, there is a counter petition started by Daniel Pickett of Action Figure Insider.

Check it out if you like, and please sign if you're so inclined.

I'm not interested in the Breaking Bad toys for myself, but I do have a big problem with the attempt to remove these clearly not made for kids figures from the shelves. Despite the blinders people wear about it, there are a lot of adult toy collectors who enjoy these things, and Toys R Us is a great place to go for them.

This crap has happened before with other toy lines, and its ridiculous.

A search of Breaking Bad on ToyRUs brings up a Blu Ray of Big Lebowski. Also not child friendly.
